Second monitor Hi I use an IBM think pad T42 I have a program that should enable me to put up a splash screen on a secondary monitor i.e a Tv whilst working from my lap top. I have tried going down the XP mode but get nothing the only way to display any thing other than the XP background is to go through the IBM thinkvantage program and set up a TV as a second monitor All this does is mirror my laptop screen It wont allow the splash screen on the secondary indepandant of the laptop screen. I have also got ATI hyrovision on this laptop but I am lost with its jargon. the program I am trying use is a PCDJ VJ its a Karaoke Dj program that enable the operator to show the lyrics on a large screen and cue future singers whist working with the data on the laptop screen ie searching tracks etc Can anybody help Kind regards Andy Whitelaw

I beleive that you may need a splitter, I think it may be called a convergance splitter to work with the program. Check with the manufacturer support for the program. They should be able to tell you if a splitter is needed.

My touchpad buttons don't work IBM T42 laptop

In this case you probably disabled it by mistake ..and you need to enable it again ..Go to control panel ..and locate the touch pad..and see if it needs enabling . If this will not work ..you have to download the driver for the touch pad..and reinstall it ..or ..if the driver is still in the system it is enough to get to control panel ..add hardware ..and run the add new hardware wizard..This will search for hardware and show the ones which are not installed or ..if no one is present ..select already added and look for the pad..
Or ..I would option for getting into device manager..(right click on computer ..select properties../hardware /device manager..or direct device manager for win7 ..)
in the device manager select the touch pad..and click right on it ..and select update driver..This will start the wizard and install the missing driver if it is still in the system ..If it isn't you will have to install it manually after you download it from the support site ..or from the disk .

I have an IBM ThinkPad T42 and until a few minutes ago my touch pad was working with no problems. I installed a wireless mouse and that works fine. But I cannot control the cursor with the touch pad or red...

Try going to Start>Control Panel>Printer and other Hardware and look for mouse pad or something like that. I think the problem is that you can only use either the mouse pad or the mouse, can't use them both at the same time.

There is a delay when pressing the keys on my thinkpad T42

you haven't mentioned how other programs behave. i would suggest it is spyware slowing your computer down or one program that is using up to my cpu usage. hitting control-alt-delete will bring up your task manager... at the bottom it shows cpu and memory usage as a percent.... what are the amounts ?

Working with 2 Screens

What you have to do is enable "Extended Display" ie: Check the Box in Display Settings "Extend the Desktop onto this monitor" this basically give you one large independent desktop, allowing more work space. The other way is to "Clone" that is same image on BOTH monitors. There is a good program to help called UltraMon it is great. www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/download.asp Also ensure you have the most up to date Drivers for your Radeon..
