In order to turn the knob to the pilot position you need to push the knob in slightly and then turn. Once the pilot position on the knob is lined up with the indicator on the valve, you can push it in and gas will flow to the pilot assembly.

I am trying to switch a natural gas deep fryer to propane and cannot fimd the correct part

Hi there.
You can visit http://www.imperialrange.com , you can verify there the correct parts list for the model of your fryer for the conversion from natural to propane and you will be able to search there the nearest authorized parts and service provider in your area.
You will be needing burner orifice for propane, pilot orifice for propane (if available, if not, the whole pilot assembly), Gas valve spring for propane (if available, if not, the whole gas valve for propane).
Regards.

I got a dean that that is for natural gas and now I need to use propane...does it have to be re jeted or can I adjust the regulator or something

It will be safe if you use a Conversion kit from natural gas to propane. The kit consists or burner and pilot orifice which has smaller holes compared to the natural gas orifice, gas valve spring which is thicker than the natural gas spring, and ann instruction manual. You can visit the frymaster website and ask the local dealer on your country for the conversion kit.

Unit ( model SR142gp serial 0608MA0448 - propane fuel ) operates as designed, but can not cut flame to pilot with the thermostat. must cut the gas control to pilot to the get pilot flame & pilot...

The pilot light should remain "ON" all the time. It is not intended to ever go off, unless you are not going to use the fryer for several months at a time. Then you can just shut off the propane which will shut off the pilot light flame. It does not cost that much to run the pilot light all the time. About one to two dollars a week.

I am going to purchace a deep fryer from a resteruant and would to know if they can be converted to use propane gas

Yes. The burner orifices and the pilot orifice need to be changed. Also, the regulator or regulator spring needs to be changed on the gas valve.... depends on the brand. That's it.

Pilot light will not stay lit

You can not check a thermocouple by resistence. You have to check it by millivoltage when it is hot and sensing it should be above 500mv. I would be willing to bet that you have some type of particulate in the gas valve that is causing this problem.

Fryer maybe leaking propane

Hello

To see if this is leaking you can make a soap solution of 1 tablespoon of dishwashing soap to 1 cup of water to see if it bubbles. Just apply it around the knob on the gas valve or pilot valve. If it bubbles it is leaking and will need replaced. This will rule out a draft of air coming from somewhere else.

Hope this helps
