SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are - 1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line. 2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service. 3. A USB wireless adapter uses the same 3G mobile/cell phone network and can be separately or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses a wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick. Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.
If you use a wireless router with a DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop/computer with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop. If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service. Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans. Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.

First Connect the Desktop with Netgear Router with the Ethernet cable. Open the Netgear GUI and configure a Wireless Network. Once its configured, switch On the WiFi switch from your Laptop and try to connect your Laptop. Make sure your laptop has an in-built Wifi adapter, if it doesn't then you would need to buy an USB based Wifi Adapter.
Also if you want to use the Internet with your Desktop PC without being connected with the Netgear Router then make sure it has Wireless connection capability.

hey there joselko, i'm chris from sw scotland. i have the same setup - 2 wireless laptops and a pc physically connected to the router with an ethernet cable. you just plug the ethernet cable into the 'out' hole in the back of the router and into the ethernet port in the back of the PC. then start your PC. go to control panel, then internet settings, then hit the 'connection' tab, then click the radio button that says 'never dial a connection'. you may have to reboot, but not necessarily. both the laptops should continue to work wirelessly and the PC should now connect directly to the internet using the router. if you have any problems, feel free to call me on 01776840273, and ask for chris, i'll be glad to help. you can also skype me on christophergrams or using the skype number 01414165437. good luck. chris
