Staring difficulties How to start easily

    Hi

I have bought one of these similar on Ebay and couldnt start the thing at all. The seller said it was me not using the instructions. Unit sent back and it was faulty. Sent me a replacement, great for a little while but same thing happened again could not start it and suspect an inherent fault with the carb as there is a spark. Seller was no longer interested in helping. Personnally, I would never buy a Ryobi strimmer with Roto choke again, they re waste of time. I will strip it down to try and locate the fault myself. If I find the issue will post results here.... Dont buy Ryobi strimmers from Ebay margaret5467

I don't mean to over simplify this, but are you using fresh gas? Gas string trimmers are extremely ticky when it comes to gas. They like it SUPER fresh. And while the gas and oil mixture should be right, it can be off a little bit and still run. Try draining all of the gas out, and then filling up with fresh mix. This is ALWAYS my first step with string trimmers, and it fixes the problem 75% of the time. Also make sure your spark plug is clean. If you are not sure, a new plug couldn't hurt.
Hope this helps!!

Make sure you have assembled the starter correctly, assemble loosley pull the starter handle until you hear the pulley fully engage into the starter pawls on the flywheel and the cover sits down easily, now fully tighten the screws.

My blower sounds like the carburator or something is loose and it won't start easily and when it does it won't stay on or doesn't have good power

With the unit off, grab the carburetor and see if anything is moving. Sound like the cylinder may be loose. Before tightening cylinder screws check if the gasket is damage. If yes then change gasket.

Sounds like your flooding the engine; I did the same thing. Wait a while to let the gas drain back to the tank. Use your primer bulb once and your choke for only ONE pull; then shut off the choke. Pull start without the choke 2-3 times and it should start.

You may want to check valve clearance, sounds borderline. You should have 11/1000s on the exhaust valve. The exhaust is usually the culprit, since it runs hotter.

I can't restart my Ryobi cutter once it's been running.

This is because Ryobi uses a loose fit on their piston and cylinder. As the cylinder heats up it grows in size causing the compression to drop.
when the cylinder cools the cylinder shrinks and you regain your compression.

Another possibility is that you are boiling yoour gas causing a vapor lock. This also goes away once the unit cools.
