I get this message on all inbound fax pages regardless of source. I cannot find any mention of this message in the printer instruction book by Canon. I cannot resolve the message and have to abort trying to print the received fax in memory. Any ideas?
I found a copy of the manual, and on page 202 the "Dark Paper Used" message can be caused by three things:
1. Paper used is colored or stained -- replace with clean white paper.
2. Paper was pulled from machine before the fax was ejected completely.
3. The received document support is not installed correctly. Page 3 in the manual shows this support as the rear-most, and it looks like it should be installed with the upright portion angling toward the rear at about a 30 degree angle.
Semper Fi, Dan. The only way I can see something triggering an error regarding the rear document support is if there is some type of sensor where the paper comes out of the printer. Either the sensor is stuck or broken, or if the support is missing, the paper may be tripping the sensor as it 'leans' over the back of the unit. If the support is installed, try propping something in front of the support to hold the paper more upright as it comes out of the printer. This is all conjecture. I don't think I've ever seen a B160 other than the diagrams in the manual.
Good Luck!

Thanks Marine! I am using new white photocopy paper. I get this message on all inbound and just cannot get rid of it. I checked the paper paths and they're clear. The machine does not skip or need special handling to fax anything. Only the inbound gives me the grief. My instruction book is only 88 pages. Not sure what to try next. Thanks and Semper Fi.
