In order for Windows XP or Windows Vista to communicate directly with a digital camera, the camera must be PTP (picture transfer protocol) capable. This protocol was developed after the PowerShot S230 came out six years ago. Your best bet would be to get a CF card reader (only about $15 - $20) with a USB connector and use it to read the photos from the CF card.

Not sure how to make a pic black & white, after I have taken the shot. How do I do this? I have a Nickon Cool Pix S230

Hello,
Unfortunately the camera doesn't have the ability to change the colour tone after you have taken the photo. If you have some photofinishing software you are able to change the tone to your photos.
The S230 however does allow you to change whether you're in B&W, Sepia or natural tone before you take your shot. It's a really fun feature to play with and I encourage you using it!
Hope this helps.

Bushnell Outdoor digital camera, usb doesnt recogonize device

Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! If you view a driver, and it says you do not need one, then how do you have a driver to view? Everyhing has a driver, if they didnt then how could the CPU recognize anything?

+driver for canon powershot a 40 on vista

I had same problem. Called Canon and found out A40 is not compatible with Vista so there is no driver. But you can download pics to your Vista by purchasing USB Memory Card Reader/Writer you can find at Walmart for about $12.00. You put your Flash card in device and has USB that plugs in computer for downloading pics.

My XT will not connect to Vista.

Well, that worked perfectly. Turn on your Rebel XT camera and under Menu then Tools go to Communication and set it to Print/PTP. Thank you to all you very smart people!

Need Driver

Hi, you have unfortunatly met the same fate as a lot of unsuspecting people. VISTA does not support most older plugin devices or earlier version soft ware. It is possible to run an old old program designed for WIN 3.1 but none of the later top line products. It is the same for Hardware. My advice is to locate a set of drivers for your new computer system that work with XP and delete VISTA then install XP. Regards mistyman
