Question about HP Printers & Copiers

4 Answers

I have a HP Photosmart C4280 al--in-one printer. This morning it refused to copy a document. It also refuses to print. Always there is a message "carriage jam. Press OK". This does not cure the problem. The printer merely takes a piece of paper and passes it straight through without any printing and gives the "Carriage jam" message again. I cannot find any instructions in the Basics Guide. Please help.

Just check for any obstructions inside the unit, if all is clear and it is still giving you the same error, it's time for service or replacement (if warranty permits).

The Carriage Jam error message displays on the control panel display. The print carriage, which holds the ink cartridges, stalls against the left side of the printer. A paper jam might have occurred previously.

To clear a paper jam from the rear door, complete the following steps.

    1. Press in the tab on the left side of the rear door to release the door. Remove the
door by pulling it away from the product.

    2. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.

      CAUTION:

If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check
the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside
the product. If you do not remove all the pieces of paper from the product,
more paper jams are likely to occur.

    3. Replace the rear door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.

    4. Press the button next to OK to continue the current job.

Follow these steps to make sure that the print carriage can move freely.

    1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.

    2. Check whether the print carriage is moving freely from one side of the product to the other.
      If
it does not move freely, apply a moderate amount of pressure to the
right side of the print carriage and push it towards the left.
This action should not require the use of any levers.
If the carriage still does not move freely, skip to the next step

HI I would suggest that you turn off the Machine and remove the INK CARTDRIDGE.

And then PUT it back in and START IT UP this should work

HP Printer C4280 says "USB not connected"

Install software that is twain compliant.
Maybe the HP bundle that came with the printer.
Also Paint Shop Pro,Adobe Acrobat.Photoshop etc.
Use the usb cable after the install of the HP drivers then you may change the default location of where scans are saved.

Can only print on the printer's copy

sir try uninstalling the whole old printer program on the add/remove icon on the control panel... then reinstall the software again... this is because in the process of installing the printer the software is scanning the installed printer... is not because you have the same unit as before they are one same unit... i mean they still differ on parts model and serial numbers so the OS still need to recognize the new printer installed...

hope this helps...
