Hi

Error code F1 means that an error with the keypad has occurred. Usually it happens due to loose ribbon cable on the keypad or the electronic control assembly itself going bad. To resolve this issue first, disconnect the power to unit and then gain access to the back of the clock assembly (Electronic Range Control/ERC). Now unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC, it would be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide and make sure that the cable is not broken and nothing is shorted on the keypad. After this is done insert the cable back and then plug the unit back to check. If the error is still there then the electronic control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I'm getting a constant beeping sound and a F1

The F1 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F1 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced

Old Magic Chef wall oven (model 9875-5XRB), constantly beeps and displays the F1 error code. I have replaced the touch pad once before. Is that the only solution?

Does anyone know the answer? This was posted in October 2010! I ran the self clean too about a week ago. But we had a bunch of power outages last night. Today my oven has taken to beeping and flashing the F1 code. It is almost the same Model number. they wrote 9875XRB (not 5XRB) ...

The oven on my magic chef range does not work..broiler and burners ok ,,,get a F1 code and beeping noise ...model number 3488VTV

Hi hockeyhoskin,

F1 error indicates a bad touch pad or clock (ERC). To fix this error code, replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem.

Hope it helps.

Magic Chef Oven

An F1 usually suggest a defective touch pad (The keys get stuck sometimes because long use or "over pressing" or poking it with things like knives and such). If its a unit with seperate touch pad and clock (controller) changing the touch would be enough othewise the whole controller has to be replaced. You did not give a model number so not able to give an exact price. But it should be in the region of $120 - 230 depending on the model you have

Error code F1

I had the same problem and found this post:
http://fixitnow.com/wp/2006/03/11/maytag-amana-jenn-air-and-magic-chef-range-f1-codes/

The oven had been cleaned earlier in the day and the touch pad ribbon connector was shorting. I cleaned it with rubbing alchohol and blow dried the whole board for good measure. Hooked everything back up and haven't had a problem since.

Have a magic chef oven, f1 display after self cleaning, stove top works fine, any thoughts

F-1 is a fault code.

Disconnect the power plug or turn range power off at circuit breaker. Wait a couple of minutes, then plug the range in or flip the range circuit breaker to ON.

Oven control beeps & displays any F  code error (for example
F11) - Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press
CLEAR/OFF to clear the display & stop beeping. Reprogram
oven. If fault recurs, record fault number. Press CLEAR/OFF
contact an authorized service agent.

-F1-

F1 for Magic Chef means there is a problem with the control board or the touch pad to the board.  I would need the entire model # on sticker on the oven to see what parts are on this one.  If the touch pad is separate it will have a ribbon that goes from it to the board.  Unplug that ribbon, if the code goes away then the touchpad is the problem.  If the code stays with the ribbon unplugged then the control board is bad.  Make sure power is off to unit when touching anything!
