Palm mail will not sync with my IMAP account in Outlook Express

I have an IMAP account set up in Outlook express 6. I try to synchronize my visor platinum but it does not see my IMAP account and so it does not sync anything. I am thinking that because the IMAP accounts in outlook have their own folders, like inbox and sent items it doesn't see that but looks to the local INBOX folder which is empty. How can I make hot sync look to my imap account.

Duplicate emails in Outlook Express?

When Outlook Express is configured for POP3 mail access it uses a file called pop3uidl.dbx to keep track of which message have been downloaded so that it can download only new messages. Sometimes this file becomes corrupted which results in the same messages getting downloaded again. So we will need a different copy of this file. Please do the following to recreate it:

- In Outlook Express click on Tools and Options.
- Click on maintenance tab.
- Click on Store folder button.
- It will open a small window with a path to the store folder.
- Copy the whole path.
- Click on start and Run.
- Click inside the run box and press Ctrl+V, it will paste the whole path we copied.
- Click on OK. It will open the store location.
- Close Outlook Express.
- In the folder that was opened, locate the pop3uidl.dbx file and right click on it and select rename.
- Rename that to pop3uidlold.dbx.
- Open Outlook Express and you will no longer receive any duplicate messages.

If you are using IMAP account, that can happen if your IMAP account is the default mail account and OE is configured to both open directly to the Inbox (which downloads headers automatically) and check for new messages when starting (which also downloads headers automatically). To stop the duplicates, simply choose one option or the other, but not both:

In Outlook Express click Tools > Options, then
1. Remove the check mark for When starting, go directly to my ‘Inbox’ folder
OR
2. Remove the check mark for Send and receive messages at startup.

If you already have duplicates showing, click Tools > Synchronize Account or Synchronize All.

I am unable to set up my incoming and outgoing mail on outlook express so that I don't get errors. I am trying to sync my outlook with my palm treo and my ipod touch. I am receiving my emails on my touch,...

You need to set up Outlook Express with the correct names of the servers for your particular email account. One server name for outgoing mail, and one for incoming. The following link lists all the majors web mail services and their server settings.

http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-settings.html

In Outlook Express, from the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
On the Mail tab, choose Add --> Mail..
Type a display name for your account. Hit Next.
Type your email address. Hit Next.
Using the above link, enter the required information for incoming and outgoing mail servers. Hit Next.
Enter the username and password for the account and click Finish.
(These windows may vary slightly depending on the type of account.)

Hope this was helpful. You'll want to tell Outlook whether or not to leave the email on the server or not (for you to access from the web at a different location perhaps).

Not as familiar with Treo setup, but there is most likely a settings screen to enter the same info as above.

Best of luck!

When i try to ger outlook express to work it won't

In the Outlook Express folder delete Old.dbx change the file name from Old.bak to Old.dbx
Also, if this does not help, try as a last resort use a special software.
If not important, paid or free software, I can advise this Recovery Toolbox for Outlook Express: http://www.outlookexpress.recoverytoolbox.com/
But before you start worrying try another search solution in this forum: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/outlook-express/395-something-wrong-with-outlook-express-how-to-fix-it

I cannot sync my Palm Tungsten E with MS Outlook.

  1. Step 1 Install the Palm Tungsten software. This software is required in order to sync Palm Tungsten with Outlook Express. To install the software, place the CD-ROM in your PC and follow the on screen instructions.
  2. Step 2 Use the HotSync cable included with your Palm to plug into the USB port of your PC. You will then plug the other end of the cable into your Palm Tungsten.
  3. Step 3 Open the HotSync Manager program on your PC through the "Start" menu or clicking on the icon. You can manage the different programs available for synchronization through this program. Select Microsoft Outlook as one of the applications that you want synched onto your Palm Tungsten.
  4. Step 4 Turn on the Palm Tungsten. You will see a star icon on the menu of your PDA. Tap this star with your stylus to start syncing Microsoft Outlook Express. A dialog box will appear on your PC during the process to know the progress of the synchronization.
  5. Step 5 Unplug the cable from your PC and Palm Tungsten once the sync is completed. As the Palm resets, you will now notice that Microsoft Outlook Express is available on the PDA.

I use Outlook Express on Windows XP... Can I snyc this?

Outlook Express - no software included with Palm devices but There is third-party software to synchronize the email and Windows Address Book from Outlook Express to Palm OS devices. No synchronization when Outlook express is default mail program

Email synch is based on current MAPI preferences. The problem you have is that the VersaMail conduit assumes your mail client must be the MAPI default email client. You could adopt another profile in Outlook instead of OExpress which picks up the account you use in OE. This is the first instance of this problem I have ever heard of so I doubt if PalmOne would make a software change on this.

Can i use Outlook Express

I've checked the knowledge library and i have seen this article regarding your query. You are limited to Mail synchronization for Outlook Express. A third-party conduit is required to synchronize your Outlook Express Address book also. A conduit is supplied free with the Mac version of Outlook Express. We are not aware of any available conduit for the Windows Address Book of Outlook Express Think of it in terms of databases: Microsoft Outlook contains email, calendar, contact, to do and notes databases that are analogous to the similar databases on your handheld. Microsoft Outlook Express contains only email and contact databases.
