Hello, I installed PCI1212M and Daughter card under win7 64bit. I have a problem with MIC record on WDM software ,such as Skype, TotalRecorder. the record sound is intermittent. For this you need to create two Skype ID first one for you and one for your daughter.

To register your ID on Skype go to www.skype.com

Then install skype on both the computers (on yours and on your daughter's)

Add yourself in her account and add her ID in your account.

now you can chat/talk to her using skype.

To talk on skype you will require a Headphone with mic. she will also require it.

if you want Make video call, both of you will require webcam also.

You may just need to manually select your mic. Go to this free video mail site. Click on the mic icon and then try the choices in the drop down list. Record and play back brief recordings until you can hear yourself. Once you know the mic that works select it in Skype or other software program. It is usually under Settings, Audio.

Update your sound drivers from
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

If the person cannot hear you then, either your mic driver not installed or not working OR the mic is not configured in Skype.
To test your mic go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the mic need to be configured in Skype.
Normal 0 To configure the mic - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

Hi bob_durek assuming you have the same problem with MSN messenger or any other software, please go to start -control panel- Sound. Then click on the voice tab and Audio tab and see under Voice Recording you see a device, meaning your mic. If you do see a device, click on Volume and make sure the "Select" is checked. Restart Skype and run the audio wizard to make sure everything is working. Dont forget to rate if my answer helped you. Thank you :D

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

CONFIGURE TO SKYPE

Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch your webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.

i would unplug the camera put back in. I would also reinstall the software usually when you install not everything always installs propertyly

in control panel go to sound and audio devices. in this you can test all the audio hardware and mic also.
under voice tab there is also an option for test hardware.

you said that you cannot use the mic in skype or google talk. i think that you didn't configure the mic properties in those software.
just go to start->all programs->accessories->entertainment->sound recording. just record ur voice using mic. if it works then the problem is with the configuration of the software skype and gtalk

First, try pluging in an exteral mic to check the mic itself is not broke. Next Go to the device manager to check for driver problems (control panel, system, Hardware look for yellow ?'s) Check control panel, Sounds and Audio, audio, sound recording, volume. There are just too many ways to mess with the sound settings, and they often seem to just mute themselves!

well, to find out if your computer has a mic open up the audio mixer (double click the speaker in the right hand side of you screen), if you do not see your microphone, go to Options>Properties, and select "microphone", then go to options, advanced controls, under microphone, if you see a "advanced" button, click it (if you dont see it, there is no internal mic), if you see Mic2 Select, you probably have a internal mic. Another way to find out if you have a internal mic is to go to the sound recorder, and see if you can record your self, However if your going to be using skype, i recommend you get an external mic
