To reset it hold down the reset button for 3 seconds, then connect it to power cable.

If that doesn't work, do a "master reset." Turn the Garmin off, press
and hold the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
    Keep the button pressed
    and turn the unit on.
Hold down the corner for some time, until the
unit ask for confirmation. This will clear all settings.

If you are located in an area that is not good for satellite reception, like an area with tall buildings or mountains, you will not have good reception that can also be the problem. Try moving the garmin to a different location.

If reception is good and reset did not work, then it is a problem with the firmware, in this case update garmin software from website.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The dispaley states "aquiring antenna" but never finds it,can this be fixed?

Yes. However, it depends on what is causing the acquiring signal message. It could be that you just have to replace the dock or antenna. But it could also mean the unit is going bad, in which case it would need to be repaired. www.tss-radio.com has a repair guy, though with that unit being discontinued for as long as it has, he may not have parts. You may have to search around for a replacement on amazon or ebay.

My brand new 2136T-LM displays my location as somewhere in California. I am in Lewiston, Maine. I drove around the block; according to my Magellan, I am still in California.

You need a lock on satellite signals in order for the unit to know where you are. Turn the unit off and back on, if its the first time acquring satellites for the unit, go outside away from tall buildings or trees and let it sit still while it acquires satellites for the first time. It can take anywhere from 1min-15 minutes.

I have got my garmin 1490 T from US.Iam living in Middleeast...I have updated the map & now when I start the unit it says...Locating satellite...Acquring sattellite...

Because the unit is a Region 1 unit (US/Canada/Mexico); it is set to locate itself through the GPS system over the Western Hemisphere only, I'm afraid.

Your unit may not work for any middle eastern country. You should purchase one for that region from that region preferably.

Sorry and I hope this helped.

Thanks!

We just purchased this new nuvi, upon turning the model on, it has aquired a satellite in the US. How do you change it from Washington State to BC, Canada. We started the power, then HOME, then changed...

I own a Garmin also so Im pretty familiar with them but I have never traveled out of the United States with one. Im sure you know the principal of a GPS is to locate the satellites that circle the earth. You need a minimum of 3 for the GPS to function correctly. But usually its locked on to more of them. I think you issue maybe more with the maps in your unit then satellites. Here is my suggestion because I dont know what maps your unit covers for you. You need a tech to tell you how much coverage your current maps in your unit will cover and how far in Canada they will go but I think your going to need a new set of maps. Go here www.garmin.com either click the link or copy and paste it in to your web browser. When you get on Garmins site then look at the top of the page to the right it will say My Garmin click on that and set up a account with a user name and password. At that point you can check the maps and the coverage of them or you can contact Garmins Technical support by phone or by email to tell you the coverage you have in your unit now.

I hope this helps you out and if it does please leave me a YES for helping you with this question. Thank you.

Help! My map display has changed from a local map to a map of the northeastern united states. How can I get it back to local? Beth

Make sure your zoom level is correct and that you have contact with the satellites. Once the GPS unit fixes on your location and you zoom in, you should be good to go.

The date that my Nuvi operates on is incorrect

Nuvi 200 - trying to reset the date using the method suggested by Kevin A (and in a cellar) and after two hours the Nuvi was still "locating satellites". Am I doing something wrong?!

My main problem, however, is that having loaded a copy of the latest European maps onto the card used in the device, when going through the "where to" routine I am asked to enter State/Province. Living in the UK this is a little difficult as there is no answer I can give that the unit will recognise! Any ideas?

The SD card has fallen out of my Garmin Nuvi 200 sat nav. I have spoken to someone on the phone about it and he said it should work without it, but all it says is "acquring satellites".

The SD card has nothing to do with Satellite Reception. It would only matter if the SD has your maps on it. It soulds like you have an antenna issue. have you tried a reset?

The reset is on the bottom rear of the unit where the decal & model number are. Press it.

Let me know if you're still haveing reception issues.
