Blue screeen with error on RT2500USB for wusb54gv4

Hi,
i got an old pc (celeron 2.0gb) from my dad, he was using wifi with the same adaptor without problem, i transferred the MB and chip into my old pc, hook up all hardwares and load a fresh copy of XP. But when i tried to connect the wifi adaptor, the pc could not detect it. Solved the detection problem with a PCI usb 2.0 adaptor. Then while trying to load the driver, it prompt me about no WHQL certification on my device, continued to load driver and the blue death screen appeared pointing to RT2500USB problem (driver).
If i boot the pc without hooking up the adaptor, it works fine which subsequently i can hook up the adaptor hoping it will work. And somtimes the adaptor works for a while and the conflict occurs again, if not an instant reset of pc will happen. I've spent many hours trying to troubleshoot but to no avail....Please help....
Is there a conflict of driver in this case?...I had tried it on a newer pc and it works fine. Linksys declared that it is not their adaptor problem.

awaiting for solution anxiously....Terence...(40+ hours spent)

Driver problem. Go into control panel and delete the adapter drivers. Remove the wifi adapter Then re-boot. I suspect the BSD (blue screen of death) was a result of a driver problem. If you have another computer that you can get on the internet with, go to the manufacturer website and download a driver. If you can get one, install the driver BEFORE plugging in the device and wait for the install program to prompt you to plug in the device. If you can't download a new driver, try plugging in the device again and see what happens. You need to avoid the BSD.

Unkown device when plus in usb to pc

Hi there

As I understand it you get Unkown device notice when you plug the router in to your PC via USB.

With routers/modems/access points that have USB connection the PC do not pick up the USB like other devices. You will have to install the drivers for the USB which will be on the CD that came with the Linksys.

You can go to the following link to get more details on the drivers: Linksys(Cisco) Support

Hope this helps

I have a Belkin wireless g gaming adapter (ethernet) that i use with my pc ps3 and xbox360 i use late last night woke up this morning to no connection! every compute rin the house works just fine but this...

I have the same problem, one moment it works, the next, "No Connection" I use my Belkin adaptor with my Hi Fi to stream Internet radio. I have reset both the adaptor and my router twice without any luck. Check that your Dad has not changed the security settings on the router. If so, you will need to change the the adaptor settings to match. This adaptor does not have the strongest signal, so this also may need repositioning. Good luck. I am about to try re do the settings. failing this i have run out of ideas

NETGEAR WG311v3 Wireless PCI adapter STUCK on scanning.

Hi
What you to do first verify that the device is installed properly for that ---

Go to Device manager-- click on Network adaptors -verify the your wireless adaptor is listed there without any yellow or red mark .If you see a yellow mark then you need to install and reinstall the adaptor

Second , You might see an icon for netgear adpaptor in right lower corner under taskbar and you need to Right Click on it , it will show you several options just look for use window to manage wifi or xp wifi client , like that .. sect that option ..

after that it will display a message wireless network detected , click on the messege , you will see your network . select and connect

Verification and signal problems

Hi Sir F,

You don't need to do a re-install of the DLink WiFi adaptor since I believe it is running as it should (as you posted). All that is needed is to configure it to exclusively select only your NetGear WiFi Router. This could be done in the DLInk Wizard (Start/All Programs/DLink.../) set the DLInk to connect only to the SSID of your NetGear. Though it may pick up your neighbors WiFi, the DLink will only acknowledge the presence of the other WiFi but connect only and always to the NetGear.

A couple of other things that may help improve your WiFi connection. Use static IP add in your PC to match that of the NetGear, disable wireless security (WEP or WPA) but rather enable MAC filter and input that of your PC's WiFi Networking Card.

Should you need a more detailed instructions, pls post back the model of your router and the make/model of your PC as well as your OS.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

DWL-132 D-Link Wireless Adaptor

Thats actually a fairly common error with wireles usb adaptors across brands. Just go to the d-link website and get new drivers.
Here's a website describing other d-link usb adaptors with the same problem.
If the new drivers don't help you may need to get a new adaptor.
