Question about Home

P2RAXYG-126L Pump I'd like to know about failure modes and likely replacement parts for this pump. The motor is turning and making pretty much the same noise it always has, but there's only a trickle of water coming out of the jets. I'm guessing the impeller failed somehow, but I'm not aware of any broken pieces being ejected. Is it likely that I can just buy a new impeller and replace it? I didn't want to take the entire pump apart because I'll have to empty the (wood) hot tub first and I don't want it to dry out.

It turned out that I should have taken your advice before I ordered the parts. When I opened up the pump it turned out that it had ingested a large piece of a 4 mil plastic dropcloth. I removed the plastic and it was fine. I paid a 15% restocking fee and sent the impeller back.

You will need to pull the front cover off the pump housing in order to inspect the impeller. It is possible that it has failed and just needs to be replaced.

Motor not working. Pump is running.

Need to know what brand of pump and the model number however with that said it will either be the the switch located in the motor or the control box that pump plugs into that will be the problem. Not very often is it the button on the top lip of the tub, but sometimes it is.
Can you get us the name of the pump? Model number of the pump?
Any information off the controls?

If your bath pump LD7A-C will not shut off when you push the air button then the AIR SWITCH in the motor needs to be replaced.
This is a pretty common problem with Bath Pumps and easily fixed.

Push button on my jacuzzi won't start it despite power going to unit

The air button on your tub may be bad and not sending enough air to the air switch located on the bath pump.
The way to check this is to remove the bath pump and see if you can turn the bath pump on by taking a large straw and blowing into the air switch on the bath pump to see if you can get the bath pump to turn on.
If the bath pump comes on then you know you have a bad air button.
If you cannot get the bath pump to turn on then remove the air switch and plug the two wires going to the air switch together and then plugging the pump into a power outlet you know has power.
If the bath pump comes on then you know you need a new air switch in the motor.
If the motor does not come on then you need a new bath pump.

It sounds like your pump in turning on/off with an air button on the top of the tub.
The pump not turning off could be either a bad air button, not sending enough air through the tub to operate the air switch in the motor or it could be a back air switch in the motor where the air hose attaches to it.
Take a large straw and blow into the air switch and see if you can operate the air switch on/off.
If it will turn on/off then you know you have a bad air button on the tub however, if you cannot get it to turn the pump on/off then you know you have a bad air switch in the motor.

Maxx jetted tub quit pumping water, pump motor just races.

When the bath pump runs and you get no water going through the jets in your bath Jet trim then the impeller has probably spun off the shaft of the motor. You will not know if this is the case until you take the bath pump out and remove the front cover of the bath pump and check the impeller. If this is the case it usually has to be replaced.

I have a corner whirlpool tub and the pump is leaking water when it is on high. I am trying to find a parts supplier to repair myself

sounds like you need maybe pump union o-rings, part # o-49 or the seal might be leaking. If the water is leaking between the plastic wet end and the motor then it is definitely the seal kit which costs about $30 however on a bathtub most pump mfg have quit making replacement parts for them. You will most likely need a new pump in that case. If you can let us know what brand of pump we can assist you in repair or replacement.

I have the Jacuzzi 9235 Nova 6 and pump has gone out. Where can I find a replacement pump, and are there options on different pumps to replacement the existing pump?

You can get a replacement motor, or a whole pump at most swimming pool product, or spa outlet stores . Also many plumbing supply houses, or online ( You will need all the info on the motor as well as the pump model. The pumps are usually in a very confined space. It is best to have a professional do the work, however a handy homeowner can make the repair. Just remember this job involves three things water and electricity and in a confined space, so make sure all power to the unit is off even if you are just getting the information needed to replace the pump. As far as options it is best to replace the pump with the same model increasing horsepower or putting a two-speed pump where there was a single-speed may require modifications to the tub.

Leaky pump on jetted tub

You might just need to tighten the bolts. If that doesn't fix it you can dismantle it and replace the O-ring. Be sure to lightly coat the new ring with silicone grease before installing it. A pool supply store should be able to help you with the right part.

Jetted bath tub has stopped working - motor hums, will not run

The shaft on the motor should spin freely as should the impeller when attached to the pump. If there is drag on either, replace the pump and motor assembly. I have worked on jetted tubs for the past 5 years, I have seen seized pumps more than once.

Need to know how to access the motor on my whirlpool tub

Yes you should have an access panel to the pump somewhere. It sounds like you have already found it. You may want to get a qualified electrician involved. There are at least three sources of possible failure. The first and least expensive is that the motor tripped the ground fault interrupter and just needs to be reset. The second is that the switch has gone bad. The third and most expensive is that the pump is broken and needs to be replaced.
