Question about Palm IIIx Handheld
I am told that a number of people in our facility reported issues with their Palms after our recent upgrade with XP. I last synced in May. All things being the same after the upgrade, when I push the Hot Sync button - no connection is made with the desktop. I have installed the Desktop 4.1.4 upgrade. My Palm OS is 3.1.1 and I am unable to install an OS upgrade, because my Palm won't sync. I am more than a little frustrated to have spent a couple months as I have had time to deal with this issue.
i had that problem too. sorry it is bugging you.
i know you probably want to sync your data rught now. So for now try to disable the syncing of documents to go (just for now)
on palm desktop, look for the conduits and temporarily disable the syncing of docs to go. Also ensure you plug in your pda charger as well as the usb cable (I found out this helps through experience) and sync. (Just to back it up)
as for the documents to go, there is probably a file(document) that is generating the errors. please look through documents to go on your palm desktop and remove any file you feel is not necessary. also take note that it is best if your pda has some free memory on it. you may want to save those documents on a disk (If you are not already that is..) clearing up ram made my tx more stable esp during hot sync.
please let me know it that worked for you. i still have some suggestions
good luck and enjoy

SOURCE: Palm M515 hot sync problem
Hi you could either have a problem with the lead witch is the cheapest problem to solve the other problem is with the palm top itself if this is the case then you will need to send it off to get the firmware updated you cant do this yourself because you cant get the correct software to do this you might even need to put the device in recovery mode to install the latest firmware so it will need sending off to do this if you contact customer support number for your device then they should tell you the best way of doing this ok

I don't believe that the Palm desktop manager is compatible with Ipod. Unless you have your contacts associated with Microsoft Outlook, that should work.

if you are using 64 Bit operating system you may use following procedure
1) Start > Run > msiexec /unregister
2) In regedit, find the following key:
3) Change MsiExecCA64
From this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe
To this: C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe
(This assumes a default Windows directory.
Change to reflect your configuration if needed.)
4) Restart the Windows Installer service
(Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services)
5) Install Palm Desktop!
To go back to the previous settings, just reverse the change made in the registry, and stop/start the service again.
You can also set it back to normal by re-registering the installer:
Start > Run > msiexec /unregister
Start > Run > msiexec /register
