OK, but the BU-80 sold for about 129.00. Things won't change until people
vote with their wallets.

In a industry that has jumped on the computer
model for built in obsolescence. Just why do
you want a product built to last 20 years.

In 2 years it won't work with the latest and
greatest anyway.

Actually it is entirely reasonable to expect a subwoofer to last for more
than a couple of years.  It is compatible with virtually every audio system
built in the last 40 years and will contiue to be so for years to come.  The
audio industry will only accept the model of obsolescence of the computer
industry if consumers let them get away with building crap.  Dealers and
consumers need to bitch more.

Your right Leonard, I don't service electronics any longer. I just
don't have time, but I do help out friends when local so called
Electronic Tech wanabees can't even see the obvious. I showed my
friend his PCB, he knows nothing about electronics, and he found the
problem!
I have been in electronics since the age of 5, 25 years in the field
and was involved even in the wave solding process.
The BU-80 board had 5 broken solder joints. All the soldering on this
PCB was the worse I have ever seen in high end grade electronics. Not
one of the solder joints were thru solder joints! (Soldered thru both
sides) Pretty sad for a piece of equipment that is going to vibrate.
Lets try to forget about the underrated resistors that fry the board
because of the way they are mounted!I understand many of Infinity's
Sub Woofers have these same problems. Sad! And they want $20.00
dollars for the Service manual on a piece of shit designed speaker.
I recomend against Infinity!

Do you service electronics?  You must not if you think 5 bad solder joints
is bad, or if you think you got them all.  There are probably many more, as
there are in most consumer electronics.  I rarely service anything that I
don't find at least a few suspect solder joints in that I resolder to
prevent the inevitalble recalls for things that have nothing to do with the
original problem.
