NEED TO REPLACE SWITCH ON TIGER SAW 747 TYPE 1.IT HAS 5 WIRES ON SWITCH 110 VOLT 11.5 AMPS.PORTER CABLE SAYS SWITCH IS OBSOLETE WITH NO REPLACEMENT.

Take a stiff pin or small paper clip and push it down alongside the wire into the switch to release the wire. The wires are held in by a spring steel connector inside the switch - you have to push it back so the wire will release.

That tool was discontinued in 1980 and parts are obsolete. You may be able to use a Skil 77 worm drive switch as many of the circular saw switches were configured the same. The switches are usually marked with a 1 and 2 on the back so make sure the wires are put on correctly as some will have the 1 on one side (top and bottom terminals) while others are on the top or bottom (next to each other).

blow it out and spin the motor by hand you may have saw dust blocking the brushes. If that's not it check the brushes to see if they have life left in them. If not that check the cord for an open with a volt ohme meter.

use sewing machine oil, or 3 in 1 oil, you could use WD40 as well. but not motor oil

Remove 2 screws from under front grip and the swivel foot should slide forward and out (might need a bit of a twist to loosen) plastic grip should now slide forward and off.
