Question about HP PSC 2210 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanning, pc connection

Hello,

My printer will print, but it won't scan. Also, I have tried to use the installation disk (which is compatible with my OS (Windows XP professional), but the disk drive doesn't read or initiate the installation process. We have had this printer and Dell computor since 2001, and it has worked fine... can you help?

Hi, several things i would be asking
Do you get an error code?
Is the error on the PC or Printer?
Can you print?
How is the Printer connected USB or Wireless

the first is the error code will determine where the fault lies.. if in the 5000 range.. its a hardware problem and would need to be repaired by a service center or repairer.
if you get the printer error.. check the cable or wireless connections
if the PC error it could relate to software you are using to scan too, even if you acquire the correct twain driver (select source).. some are not compatible.. try the scan function in your Canon Utilities IJ Scan Utility. Scan it there first and save it as a PDF or image file.
if you can print its not a connection problem if you cannot print try another USB/printer cable Or make sure your device is setup for wireless run the installation software again and complete the wireless procedures in setup. I hope this helps.. or post me the error code and i can give you a definite answer.. Cheers!

Lexmark X1185 (print trio) does not scan or copy since upgrading to Vista


Hello Barbhinkins,
Please find the vista driver for this printer at this link. Follow the instructions to install properly.

Hopefully this file will also have driver for scanner.

Why won't my printer scan a document to my laptop?


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your laptop. The software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you still haven't installed the software on your computer and you don't have the installation disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one.
If you were able to scan documents before using your Lexmark printer, it could be just a slight communication issue. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

My printer is printing but i cant scan my documents - no compatible printer installed


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software (used to scan documents, convert into PDF file or create multiple pages into 1 file). The software is available on the installation disc that came with the printer.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to scan a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

My lexmark x1240 all-in-one will not print. It saves XPS files and when I go to open them it will not open them. I have already installed the XPS reader. Also, when I try to scan, a box pops up saying...

Is there any possibility of making this printer compatible with windows 7


With Windows 7, I found that installing the Vista software/drivers in the compatibility mode works well.


Right click on the setup.exe file, left click properties, left click compatibility. Change the compatibility to Vista(Try Vista SP2). Then install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect the printer(powered on).


***To install drivers, sometimes the file unzips and does nothing. You have to look for the setup.exe file, right click on it, then left click run as administrator***


As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.


Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

Juat starting from scratch on scanning. When I


Install the HP software from the CD-ROM disk that came with the printer, to enable the "scanning" function (as you say, the "printing" function is working fine).

try uninstall the driver and insatll it after that reboot and connect printer!
