Cannot get my singer ingenuity 7436 to time correctly

How do I correctly time my sewing machine. The bottom is not sitting correctly in the bobbin holder and my thread keeps breaking. The dog feet are also not in the correct position.
Help me please!

My machine is out of time. Tried changing needle, tried changing bobbin..needle is still hitting and won't ick up bobbin thread

  • Anonymous Oct 09, 2008

Lots of people (myself included) seem to need to fix the timing on their Singer 7436 sewing machine. One very helpful person has offered, on many different threads on this website, to email the instructions. Good sir or madam, perhaps you might just post all of the timing adjustment instructions here? Or a link, please? Thank you!

I purchased a Singer Ingenuity 7436 and it did not have any bobbins, and the instruction book doesn't say a thing about what bobbin to use. I found some at Wallymart that are singers called Class 66 are...

The bobbin size is Singer 15j, it is in your manual, you just have to look hard for it. I don't know why they make it so difficult to find, don't feel bad that you didn't see it right away. . Do Not Use #66, they will not fit right. Go to a fabric store, like JoAnn's and get them from them. You can also find them on Ebay, for a lot less and free shipping. 15j is a little smaller than a 15 and is made for the 7400 series of Singer Sewing machines. Even Amazon sells them if you are not near enought to a JoAnn's or fabric store.

Topand bottom stitches are not even

Could be a tension issue.

Try this to see if it helps:
Remove top thread.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Start the top tension set at the midway point and then adjust.
Check that the bobbin is threaded and installed correctly.
