Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
Okay, the system was working fine until on day the screen froze. The PlayStation 2 is now acting weird: It will then say "Disc Read Error" (even when I put in a NEW disc, that has NO scratches on it). I tried a picture-by-picture tutorial on it, and that didn't work either. The inside of my PS2 looked different from the tutorial (and they are both the old version). I cleaned it out, and tried to get as much hair, dust, dust bunnies, and etc. out of the inside. That didn't help much either. Now the disc will make a clicking and grinding noise, and won't play any game! I would also not like to spend alot of money to get a new one (about to get a PS3 soon) but, I would like to get this working, so I can lay my PS2 games on it. (The 40GB PS3 can't play PS2 games). Please help?
Number 1, Stay away from PS3 for right now as it is very unreliable., If you must, get a good warranty.
Fixing the PS2. Get a magnifying glass and bright flashlight and pick the dust, dirt and lint from the Lasers optical path. Also , you might see smudges ot scratches that restrict the optics. .
