Hi,

The handset flashing "searching" could indicate either:

  • handset is defective, it is not receiving;
  • base is defective, it is not transmitting.
Proposed course of action:
  • revert to factory default as other have posted, reset, unplug base from mains, remove batteries, wait for a couple of hours;
  • borrow a similar handset, if the 2nd handset locks to the base, then the 1st handset has an electronic receiving problem;
  • if the 2nd handset would also start searching, then the base has an electronic fault in its transmitter section.
Further diagnosis and repairs require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional. Additionally, you may want to consider the cost of repairs, in some instances, purchase of a new unit may be to your advantage.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Try the following and let me know if it works

First press page button on home station for 5 seconds. Then go to advance settings on the phone. Go to register/connect. Put in pincode 0000.

Try unplugging power cord for five minutes or so, this should clear the error.

I think if you switch off by holding down the 'exit' key for about 10 sec, then switch on again (same key) it might recover. Mine did, but seems to need the process repeating from time to time. When switched on again it still has to search for about 5 minutes.

The handset is not ‘registered’ with the based unit.
By default, the Master PIN is 0000.
  1. On the base station, press and hold The paging key for approximately 5 seconds.
  2. On the handset, press Menu key,
  3. scroll : to ADVANCE SET and press (Menu) OK,
  4. scroll : to REGISTRATION and press (Menu) OK.
Note: If no action is taken on the handset within 10 seconds, the registration procedure will be aborted. If this happens, repeat Step 1.
  1. Enter the Master PIN when prompted and press (Menu) OK to confirm.

Hi
I contacted Philips by phone and the told me that there is no back light on Model No CD135. I think that is stupid as you can have a back light on the cheapest mobile phone. All handset phones should have a light so it can be used in bad light.
