Question about Maytag Performa PAV3200
Our problem 1st started with the machine walking and vibrating with smaller loads. Yesterday it started making a loud noise while agitating. It sounded like gears gnashing. When it got to the spin cycle it didn't.
I noticed black residue and a little water on the floor in front of the machine.
Thinking it may be the belt, I pumped out the water, removed the clothes and tipped it up for a look-see. The belt seemed very loose, yet it moved (as did all the wheels) freely. The motor assembly (I assume, its shrouded in an opaque plastic) at the fron right corner (as you face the unit) seems to move very freely. Basically the unit clunks, the belt gets taught, and the unit spins very slowly on the slow speed setting. On the high speed setting it clunks and tightens only. I can't seem to find a manual either. Help!
First check if the motor is lose, if ther touting is in place, if some bolt is lose, or if there is any broken part. You can see this at eyesight.
When washing machine vibrates in this way usually you need to replace thrust bearing, see this document and also this one here
If you insert right model number here you get exploded view and parts
