My monitor screen is set to 1024x768 and the image displayed is slightly too large on the monitor and I'm losing part of the display. How do I adjust the resolution so that display fits correctly. My computer is an ACER multi-media desktop Model M1202. Where can I download the manual for this monitor?

Wide screen monitor distortionDepending upon the screen resolution that has been set inDisplay, the image will be distorted on these large wide screen monitors. Create a large circle image using a draw program such as Paint (hold down theShift key as you create the circle as it will draw a perfect circle). Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and adjust the Screen resolutionslider, increase or decrease the screen resolution then bring the circle imageto the front and check the image, if the circle is still distorted then changethe screen resolution and check the circle again until you are satisfied withthe image of the circle. When you are satisfied then click apply.

You need to change the resolution on the laptop for the TV.
Right click on your Laptop's desktop screen, and select Display properties, or Properties (depending on what O/S you are running)
Select the Settings tab if you are in XP, or select Screen Resolution if you are in Vista or 7.
You should now see the settings for setting the Display resolution for your Native Monitor and your LG TV (the TV must be plugged in to your laptop in order to see it in the Display resolution settings)
Set your resolution to a lower resolution, e.x. 800x600, 1024x768, etc.
you cannot set the resolution to 1024x768 but instead try 1280x720 or if you have graphics card try to set the resolution using its custom resolution by setting 1280x768.
It will surely solve your problem.

You most likely have a wide screen and the screen resolution needs to be adjusted to suit the monitor.
Go to the Control Panel - Display and adjust the screen resolution until you get a normal image and correct screen aspect screen ratio. Start with a screen resolution of 1024X768 and gradually increase it until you get an image that suits your screen.
Hi there. When you connect an external display, your laptop clones your desktop to the external display, including resolution settings. First you need to check what resolution settings the plasma can display. If your laptop is set to a resolution that the external monitor can't display, then you will lose the display once the resolution settings are loaded. You can change the laptop resolution in your Display Settings.
If you don't know what settings the external monitor can display, just open your Display Settings and set your laptop resolution to 1024x768. Almost all new monitor/tv's can display it. Connect your external display, and see what happens. If it works, but the resolution doesn't look right, then just move the resolution along one more, until you find one you're comfortable with.
N.B. Some monitors/tv's "jump" resolutions. i.e. the monitor can display 1024x768, 1300x768, but not 1280x800.
Another thing to remember is that if you are running Windows Vista, you may need to check that the Windows Mobility Center recognises the external display that you are trying to use. You can find Windows Mobility Center by clicking Control Panel, then Mobile PC. It should now be listed on the screen.
Let me know how it goes, and if it works, please rate.
