If the bluetooth is not available in the configfree menu check to see if you have the driver installed for it , you can download the driver from Toshiba's website.
Bluetooth is an option on most of Toshiba laptops, check if your laptop has the module installed, and if you need to press a button or a function key combination to activate bluetooth.

I have a Toshiba computer with an AR5007EG wireless adaptor. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S7404. The ConfigFree software says that the router switch is off, but I have physically verified that...

  • Hi, to verify the "Communication Switch" is on. Go to the "All Programs," select (Toshiba) from the menu, open the "Utilities" program and click on the Toshiba Assist. Next, click on the Toshiba Hardware icon; the next window will open with the Toshiba (HWSetup), check the "Wireless Communication Switch," to make sure its (ON). "I suggest restarting the Computer, after you have applied the changes; the Systems Configuration will be more successful that way. "Rating the solution will let me know if this was helpful to you, and that the problem has been fix!"

Toshiba satellite wifi not working

Hello
You might have physically switched on the adapter, but in Windows it is still disabled.

In Windows XP, click the start button, look for CONNECT TO (don't go in the all programs menu), and click SHOW all connections. A window opens showing all the connections available. If the wireless connection icon displays a red X crossing it, it is disabled.

To reenable it,

Point the mouse cursor to the wireless connection and right click mouse button. Click enable or repair.

One question though. If your computer is toshiba, you must have installed the configFree software that came with it.

If so, look to the left right of the task bar and click the ConfigFree Icon. Choose Connectivity doctor. It will diagnose your connections. If one is disabled or has a problem, a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark ! will appear on the connection.

Use the device setting thumbnail, select your WIFI adapter . A button at the right bottom side, will show either Enable (if your adapter is disabled), or disable i(f adapter is enabled). With that button, you can toggle between enable and disable. After that click the close button, and hopefully you will be able to surf the web.

Hope it helps

Wireless problem

Perhaps you have not installed ALL the drivers for your system.Sometimes a missing driver for other hardware causes a problem. After installing all the drivers for your system and if it still doesnt work , try using the connection manager built into windows (instead of configfree).

Lan wireless connection

identify moel # to better assist. for Toshiba, i own one , the config utility is only needed to search for a wireless first, then it will reset. sounds like you have too many wireless setup installed, go into the internet connection section and see waht wireless setups there are and delete same. you will want a new install.
\MAKE sure if you are using a wired connection hat same is turned OFF when trying to do a wireless.

NDSTray.exe Application Error

The process ConfigFree(TM) Tray or Network Device Switch (Tray) belongs to the software ConfigFree(TM) Tray or TOSHIBA ConfigFree or NDSTray.exe by TOSHIBA CORPORATION (www.toshiba.com).
Description: File NDSTray.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files" (common is C:\Program Files\Toshiba\ConfigFree\). Known file sizes on Windows XP are 892928 bytes (27% of all occurrence), 978944 bytes, 962560 bytes, 704512 bytes, 458752 bytes, 929792 bytes, 933888 bytes, 888832 bytes, 139264 bytes, 1372160 bytes, 974848 bytes.
There is an icon for this program on the taskbar next to the clock. The program has a visible window. It is not a Windows system file. NDSTray.exe is able to monitor applications. Therefore the technical security rating is 18% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.
External information from Paul Collins:

  • "NDSTray" can run at start up. ConfigFreeT Tray on a Toshiba laptop. Tray utility for their network switching application which permits switching network devices and settings with a click on the tray icon. While it is not required, for people who span multiple networks and want an easy way to go from wired to wireless and change addresses and other network settings, it's a must have
Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as NDSTray.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the NDSTray.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. We recommend Security Task Manager for verifying your computer's security. It is one of the Top Download Picks of 2005 of The Washington Post and PC World.

I thought I had Bluetooth in my computer...

Yes, you can use bluetooth mobile devices. COM 3 os the port that the bluetooth uses to connect to a device. You can think of it like a wireless modem. You can also configure other COM ports for communication with bluetooth devices using the connection wizard. I would suggest not to do this unless you know what you doing. From my experiences with bluetooth devices they can b a little touchy, and you have to careful you don't want to pick a port that another program is already using. ConfigFree is capable of configuring this bluetooth connection, but there are also other programs out there that you can use as well.
