Question about Sharp AL-1642CS Copier
I have just purchased a new pc with vista 64 bit and cant get any drivers for the printer. Sharp have none and there is no news on if there will ever be a driver for vista 64. I have tried making the old pc running xp a print server but still have the same issue. Is there a way round getting my printer to work with vista 64 or is it a case of a new machine.
Using XP as a print server requires finding a compatible driver.
You can set it up by configuring the new printer as some other printer and creating a new port, using the address //myoldxpname/myprinter name and sharing your printer on the xp.
Problem is, I tried a couple of different drivers, such as an HP 4P and a different sharp copier. The sharp produced garbage. The HP driver printed the page, but in huge fonts. I don't have the time or patience to keep trying different printers. It was nice while it lasted...
