I can't open an excel file with my laptop

Hi simple,
I see that you are having issue opening an excel file with your Laptop what error do you get and what version of Office are you using?
If the Excel file that you are trying to open was save using a 2007 version or 2010 version and was not save as 2003 readable file then that will really be a problem, it is either you get the latest version of Office or you can go back from where you got the file and save it in a format that will be compatible to a lower version of Office.
When saving you just click on File then click Save as it will give you the options on how you want the file to be saved as, you just selct the format Excel 97-2003 Workbook, this should make it work with the latest version of excel and as well as the oldest versions of excel.

I hope that this help.
Have a nice day,
mvincentc

I cannot open .docx and xlsx files.

The files extensions you have listed, .docx and .xlsx, are files that have been created using the Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 suite of programs. Specifically .docx is a Microsoft Word document, and .xlsx is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You will have to have either of the Microsoft Office programs mentioned, or you can also use the Open Office suite of programs. This is a free program that you can download at the following website:

How to download microsoft office for free on windows 7

There is no free version unless you get Pirate software and we can't help with that. You can download a trial version from Microsoft but it will only work for 90 days unless you purchase it.

Where can i get a free download of microsoft word, excel and powerpoint?

You cannot get these programs for free. You can get Powerpoint Viewer for free but not Powerpoint that you can use in any way other than to view presentations. However there is Open Office which is free alternative to Microsoft Office. http://download.cnet.com/OpenOffice-org/3000-18483_4-10263109.html There is also LibreOffice which is also free. http://www.libreoffice.org/

I have to excel file immediately but i dont have excel setup

Access http://OfficeUpdate.microsoft.com
and search for "free excel viewer download".

Microsoft offers a free program to "view" (but not "change") an Excel spreadsheet.

Download and install this "viewer".

USING VISTA FOR POWERPOINT, INTERNET AND DOCUMENTATION

You need to install Microsoft Powerpoint to do power point presentations. Its part of Microsoft Office

However, Windows Vista does come with a movie maker installed.
Click on the start button, then all programs and you should see it listed in the programs there

If it doesnt run and gives you an error message then follow this link to get a version that will work with your computer. DO not download it if windows movie maker works
