Question about GE APN10AA Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Leaks and must be drained every half hour

I shampooed my carpet about two weeks ago and again a week ago. Believe me it was necessary. Since then my A/C seems to be producing in excess of 6 gallons of water every 12 hours. I have to drain it every 20 minutes while in use or it will create a puddle which soaks my carpet so that it feels like a sponge. I have to drain and turn it off when I sleep or wake up to a mess. This thing produces so much water I could easily water a garden.
It's probably my fault, but how long will I have to wait for it to return to normal opperation?

A user said its doing what its suppose to do ,remove moisture, and you do have to empty the bucket atleast 5-times a day or night, and the automatic shutoff shutsoff when you need it most, so he wnt to a window unit and have' not looked back since!

Brand New 2 weeks old 4 ton Trane compressor leaks a lot of water onto pad

If the unit is running in cold weather than there is ice building up on the coils located outside. This is normal in that the unit is running in heat pump mode heating inside and cooling outside, After the unit detects the ice build up it briefly reverses the cycle heating the outside coils melting(defrosting) the ice which you observe as water on the pad.

The video gives you an example of the defrost cycle!

The unit squeaks whenever turned on, no matter what level the fan is blowing (Lo, Med, or Hi). Started about a week and a half ago.

A rhythmic squeak sounds like either a fan motor bearing going bad or just vibration from the unit running thats wiggling something loose inside the unit.

What would be causing Reverse cycle Inverter split system to leak? I have checked filters are clean and that there is no blockages of outdoor drainage hose?

The accumulated water has no drain to flow through, and is backing up in the indoor unit. Find the source of the clogged drain, and your problem will disappear. If you are lucky, you can pour a little bleach or peroxide in the indoor unit's cooling coil and the chemical will eat your clog. Otherwise, mechanical cleaning may be necessary. Check your installation manual to see how your unit is supposed to be plumbed.

2 weeks ago one of my units stopped working properly. It got warm during the night even though I heard the unit running. I shut it off and called for repair service. They changed the thermostat and it...

sounds like the coils inside the air handler/furnace are freezing up. likely cause is the freon charge is incorrect (probably undercharged). it may have been correct when the tech did the work but some may have leaked out. it is slightly possible too that the system is overcharged. you should have the system pressure verified, and then have it checked for leaks.
