1. No AF-assist for this camera;
2. It cannot use micro-drives because it only support Type I Compact Flash.

Never had a problem with low light focus on 3100z, also I think Epson assumes you might be using larger lense barrels and thus a mounted AF assist would be useless. IMHO AF assist is not a feature I would really seek in buying a camera, at best all you are going to acheive is a very narrow center focus
why would you really want microdrive??? I have not used one, but the reliabilty of a of CF has to be much higher and able to stand more abuse than a microdrive.
