Start->System Tools->Master Reset.

You can get the newest software for your Q at http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdateSelect.asp?country=USA&language=ENS

You install the new software via USB cable.

You can hard reset the phone but it will erase everything including downloaded data, settings and contact and phone will restore to factory default.
  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Press and Hold the Center Select Key, while powering up the phone
  3. The MASTER RESET screen will appear
  4. Press Yes.
  5. This will restore the phone to factory settings.

Ribbon cable has been replaced but Camera features and Apps are not supported

Hello,

Do not panic, this is a minor software problem. The files that support the operation of the camera and applications might have contacted some sort of virus, the virus can be contacted via application downloads, file transfer from bluetooth devices and other means. The solution to the problem is very simple.

SOLUTION: There are two ways of solving this problem, first way is for you to format your phone. To format your phone means you should restore your factory settings.
  1. Go to your phones menu,
  2. Select the settings options,
  3. Select the restore factory settings,
  4. it will prompt you to enter the phones security code,
  5. enter it and the phone will be formatted and all the files on it will be restored.
  6. Then your camera and other applications will work perfectly fine.
But if you do not have the security code for your phone, you will have to get the appropriate software for your phone, then the usb cable then flash the phone. That will do the job. You can ask a phone repairman to do that for you. Because they usually have the software to flash phones.

Take care

Inorder to format your set,you can use following tips; FOR HIGHER ORDER PHONES(LIKE N,X,E series..): Dial *#7370# then your phone will ask a securitycode, there you can type your code.then it wil format and restart.

FOR OTHER MULTIMEDIA NOKIA PHONES: Here you can't format yourphone, but you can restore it; For that,go to;SETTINGS-RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS- AFTER CLICKING IT, your phone will ask a securitycode there you can type your code.then it will format and restart. boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows. Paul Sager 2335 Solutions July 14, 2010 I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q. What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence. This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware. The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.) If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times. My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone. I hope that helps.
