Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Cf-28 hey there..28's have calibration for windows which the toughbook is designed for. Panasonic does not offer any type of support for Ubuntu or Linux. I have had an account with Panasonic for many years and have already spoken with them. I have had my 28 for a few years now and I know for a fact that the touchscreen works just fine. I simply switched operating systems. I am not really sure how to "uninstall" drivers in Ubuntu. So I guess that i am like all of the other people who just have to deal with an uncalibrated touchscreen if i choose to use Ubuntu. Thanks for trying to help.

Hey, sorry bout that, for some reason I had cf27 in my head. You're right on the Windows calibration, but with the Linux system there isn't much out there. Here's a forum I found on the subject. You might read over it and see if it will work for you. There is a section on the touch screen towards the bottom.

Battery calibration for cf-29 panasonic laptop download

On the Panasonic Toughbook CF29 MK1 Model,
the Battery Recalibration application is actually
built-in on the BIOS. On all other models, it is
a downloadable software located at this website:

    http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/itn/drivers/d_menu_en.html

Please remember to choose your operating system
and then find the Battery Recalibration Application.
Finally click on the "Download Now" button located
    on the right hand side.

I have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-28 Mk III P3 1Ghz 512Mb Ram , I have installed a brand new DVD rom Drive in the MP Bay it reconises in bios also reads upon first post however, will not boot from any os cd...

Some bios menu allows you to boot from USB. (Some are locked this option by makers.)

Run safety mode and try again to see whether your DVD rom is working.

Best way will be go to device manager; go to properties of DVD rom; go to driver and click roll back driver.

If this is not working (in case), uninstall driver and reinstall it.

    Have a CF-28

The last three letters of that model number are unnecessary.
    CF-28P3JP8QM has the following desription:
    PIII 800MHz, 256, 30GB, 13.3"NON-TOUCH, FDD, 56k/LAN, CISCO WIRELESS LAN, PALM ANT, NO 56K, XP/2K
You can look up this info for yourself at
    http://config.toughbook.com/
You will need to use Internet Explorer as other browsers don't seem to work on that site.

Internal wireless adaptors are not made for generic use. Each motherboard used a different design to it. You will have to use a USB type adaptor.

My panasonic toughbook cf 28 memory issue

i'm not sure what your configuration was in the computer before you tried installing the extra memory, but here's some common problems i see.

-it might exceed the maximum amount of memory that can be recognized in each slot or total for the computer

-it might have be installed in matching pairs (if it is a 2 memory slot machine which most are).

-it might not take that exact speed/rating

    hope that helps
