Question on posting...

My dryer is doing te exact same thing, it has a noise coming from the blower wheel. How would I know if it has to be replaced or fixed? I followed what you said from the last posting and the wheel does not seem to be getting tighter. Can you help?

Mdg2300bww dryer, flame is large hitting high limit causig it to shut down dryer. Changed solenoids on gas valve and high limit. What else can be the problem? I also cleaned all lint out of dryer vent and...

Hi, A couple of things to look for. Check the 4" vent going to the outside and make sure there is clean. If that is ok, check to see if the blower duct inside the dryer is clean and make sure the blower wheel is turning properly. This model has a problem with the blower wheel coming loose on te motor shaft.
The flame is large because it is not being sucked past the limit switch.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Maytag electric dryer makes noise from heating compartment--sounds like fan blades maybe hitting something?

I don't know that I can help you in any way other than to say that you are probably right. But some times the blower wheels do come loose and spin somewhat freely on the shaft and make a similar noise. But when that happens, you will usually notice a vibrating sound right after the drum stops spinning. Because the blower wheel continues to spin for a second or two. But I have seen, popsicle sticks, jewelry, bobby pins, those plastic white things that are under the collar in shirts and all sorts of other things in those blower wheels making noise.

Good luck

Blower wheel on dryer is loose

Jclay, you are in for a little work here partner. On this model the blower is up-front. The dryer is going to have to come apart for you to tighten or replace the blower wheel. The end caps on the consol will pull off. Remove the two screws on each end securing the consol. Flip the consol up. There will be 3 quarter inch screws under the consol, in back, holding the top on. Remove these and the top will slide off, forward. Remove the bottom panel by the blower. Remove the lint filter. Remove the 4 screws attaching the front panel and door to the front of the dryer, remember to unplug the door switch cable. The drum now can be removed after removing the belt. Take the tension off the belt by moving the pulley over. Remember the belt configuration so you can put it back on right. Once the drum is removed you will now be able to get a wrench on the motor shaft itself so you can tighten or replace the wheel. Reverse the above steps and your back in business. Im going to attach a picture of a rear blower system and the way to take it off. Yours is up front but the removal will work the same way. Sometimes you have to cut the old blower wheel off because it's fused on with heat. Your part number for the wheel is 697772. Remember to unplug the dryer during this work..Catriver..post back.
