The compressor was hot and now the compressor pops

check it over and look for the motor and make sure the fuse has not popped out. it will do that for many reasons but mostly if not enough power is available when running or ran too long and got hot.

The sounds you are hearing is the defrosted water, from auto defrosting, running onto the hot compressor. This evaporates the defrosted water. This is quite normal.

sounds like the relay on the compressor went bad and is causing arching which trips the breaker

have you tried cleaning the condensor coils?

set it to the smallist number cool setting possible. Mine did the same thing and this worked for me

Rick that don't sound good. If you know how to test the compressor and have a OHM meter we need test. if you hear the compressor turning on,no heat, the coolant has leaked out. if the compressor doesnt turn on, its a control issue.

Possibly compressor belt broken. Maybe sudden loss of coolant gas. Fix bad part and recharge.

More than likely what happen was the internal overload in the compressor was tripped and didnt reset for 5 hrs and when it did it popped the breaker. The compressor was probably already shot. Sorry

That POP noise sounds as though it is the overload on the compressor. Although personally I would describe it as a CLICK. If it is then you are either looking at a start device failure (relay or capacitor) or more likely a compressor failure. If you check underneath at the compressor side (black circular unit) and put your hand on the compressor if it is hot you are probably looking at a new compressor. Unless you have electrics for the compressor the only real solution is to have this confirmed by a fridge engineer. If it is the relay I would expect a bill of around £80 if it is the compressor thn it can be between £200-£400 depending on the size of the compressor. Hope this is of some help.
