Usb device not recognized

I had the same problem last year. The problem may be that the motherboard is no good. Apparently, says the Toshiba-certified computer guy that fixed my computer when it happened, some USB devices such as iPods can require enough power via the USB plug that it effectively burns out the USBs, but not at just the USB port, but instead at the motherboard, making all of the USB ports useless until the motherboard gets replaced. Easy if you have the warranty, crappy if not. THis happened to me twice.

I just bought a new Gateway NV53 laptop but my P4350 Lexmark all in one printer does not recognize any of the USB ports.

Did you check whether the USB ports are recognizing other USB devices such as Microvault or Flash Drive? If all other USB devices are recognized except the Printer, then reinstall the USB Drivers. You can uninstall the USB drivers from the Device Manager and restart the Computer. The USB Devices are listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in the Device Manager.

Usb device not recognize

You mentioned that you uninstalled the unknown device from the Device manager. If you uninstall it then connected your usb flash drive you will see an error again on your device manager. This means that the driver for your usb port is not properly installed.

To install it, visit dell website, look for the model of your machine and locate the driver, download it then install from your machine.

It can be quite frustrating. I've heard that older computers are more likely to have the USB device not recognized message.
