one thing i like to do is fill a container with b12 chem tool and hook this up to your fuel like and run it for about a min on b12 it will want to bog and die but just keep it going then disconnect that and run it completely out of fuel, after this you can take an air line and blow into the fuel line inlet on the carb that will clear any **** out of the jets good luck -jeff please rate

HI. THERES 2 OR 3 THINGS YOU CAN TRY. FRIST WHEN THE BIKE IS RUNNING AND YOU SAY YOU MUST HOLD IT OPEN, TRY BACKING OFF ON THE THROTTLE AND HOLD THE PAWN OF YOUR HAND OVER THE END OF THE CARB AND IF THE RPMs GO UP THAT MEANS AN AIR LEAK. (2) FROM WHAT YOU SAY THE HIGH SPEED JET IS WORKING, ITS THE LOW SPEED THATS GIVING YOU THE PROBLEMS. YOU SHOULD TAKE THE CARB BACK OFF TARE IT DOWN BSCAUSE YOU HAVE A AIR PASSAGE PLUGED UP. (3) MATCHES. JIMBO

Extremely high rpm's in neutral

Maybe the idle speed needs to be decreased, or check for engine overheating since you said that this happens after you have had the engine on for a while, this too can hcause strange rpms.

Good Luck!

1996 bayou runs for short time ,keeps stalling out

Hello, I would start first, make sure ex pipe is open . Then I would check the pick up coil, ohms should be 390-590 on a 300 KLF. Do this test before u start the bike Then start the bike and when it quits running check the pick up coil ohms. If good move on to the coil, If good then I would say good chance CDI is bad I hope this helps

Kawasaki bayou 4x4 using engine oil alot of smoke from exhaust

if it is using oil, then u got stuck rings, which keep running the bike and keep a eye on the oil, or you need the top end rebuilt.
