How i get off demo mode

Hello Mark, thank you for your inquiry!
I understand that your Electrolux washer is in demo mode and you need help in getting it out of it. In order to get your washer out of demo mode you would need to turn the cycle selector knob to spin only/time dry. Press start then the cancel button. Activate the control panel by turning the cycle selector knob to spin only/time dry cycle. Press and hold the cancel button with the soil level/extended tumble button (third button from the left) for three seconds. This should deactivate demo mode on your washer. If you continue to experience issues with your washer please comment back and reply with your model number. You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the door frame of your washer. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

The control knob is stripped & I removed that; also found that the plastic part with teeth that the control knob operates is also stripped. Where can I find both parts and what is involved in...

Used to be that you could buy the ratcheting coupler piece for 5 or 10 bucks for the old GE machines. Alas, no more. The newer GE timer must be replaced if the teeth are stripped.

Be careful not to damage the indicator dial when doing this repair as it is about $20 for a round piece of plastic and a tiny steel clip. Pry this off using opposite points of the dial (grab it at the 9 o'clock and the three o'clock positions with as many fingers as possible) and pull gently so as not to set up any fractures in the dial's hub.

Unplug machine, remove knobs, end panels. Remove remaining screws that hold the control panel and tilt forward. Removing the fascia will reveal the screws that hold the timer on.

Sears PartsDirect wants about $80 for the timer.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

Hello, I have a cheaper GE washer model with 8 cycles and 2 wash/spin speed combinations. The top part of the wash selector dial will not control the lower part. Do you understand? I need to find a...

So in other words your looking to replace the knobs on your timer correct? you can order new knobs and the under side of the knob if you think that is the issue otherwise you would also have to order a new timer as well if the seating to where the dial goes into is stripped on the timer you can use this company to order any of your parts there very helpful and alot cheaper then the other companies I find http://www.allbrandonline.com/Default.aspx?Page=My%20Account%20Profile if you have any further questions or need a part number to any piece on your unit message me back the correct model number and I will look into your situation further. Also if you have any further questions message me those back as well and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped when our chat has fully concluded it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future Thanks again

You could buy an oven thermometer at a hardware store or grocery store. They are metal and do not cost very much. Or you could order a new knob for the oven. Hope this infro helps.

How do I replace the "notch" (which is stripped) that is used to align the knob to the actual timer? This is on my GE Washer

It depends on which piece you are talking about. If you mean that the inside of the knob itself is stripped you just need to grab a new know off a similar machine or get a new one from a parts store (pretty cheap).
If you mean that the metal piece sticking out of the timer is stripped then you need a new timer since that piece cant be replaced individually. You can get a new one from an appliance parts store, just take them the model number of the machine and they can look it up and most likely tell you how to replace it as well.

GE electric oven will not shut off

You need a part number WB21X5267 Fairly easy to install and worth the effort.
NOTE: sometimes the knob slips on these stoves. So check that you do not have a stripped/loose knob and order the control.

Washer control knob just spins

The knob is prob stripped, very common for this washer.
Get it off and look at the teeth. To remove the knob you need a pair of surgical pliers. Reach behind the knob and yank the retaining clip out. If the teeth are smooth you need to replace the knob. Oil the timer so it will be easier to turn by the way. To put the new knob you simply slide it in place with the clip on it. So easy you won't believe it.

Kenmore washer 110.92292100..Washer Timer Control Knob is broken, just spins around..don't know how to get it off to replace it. Need a replacement part. Called a repair man, he wants $75.00 just to come...

If the knob is tight on the timer stem, then the timer has failed.

If the knob is loose, then maybe just the knob has failed.

You can order either of these from a number of places. One I recommend is searspartsdirect.com. YOu just enter your model number and find the exploded view for the controls. If it does not find it, drop a number off the end of the model number that you've given and try again.

They are easy to replace.

Reply back and I can give you more advice or instruction.

GE top load Super Capacity 16 cycle washer (one year old)

We have a GE WJRR4170 washer, with the same problem. At first I thought I might have to unscrew the entire control panel just to replace the knob. However, replacing it turns out to be easy.

Right behind the knob, holding it in place, is a nylon/plastic retainer clip. If you pull out the knob (into the "start" position), you can use a flathead screwdriver to push the clip out. The knob then will slide easily off the metal stem. A GE replacement knob costs $9 or $10, depending on the source.

Shame on GE, but the knob is designed terribly. The part of it that engages the dial has eight, flimsy plastic teeth. At any time, four of these are supposed to engage four little slots in the dial. However, the way the knob is designed, there will be a lot of wear and tear on these plastic teeth, so they'll wear out on every single machine.

Good luck to the many people who will have this problem!
