AL1715 problem with colors

Hi,

Got 2 AL1715 flat screen that i baught 3 years ago and one of them, the button to turn it on gets stuck most of the time and the other one, the colors get mixed. I am told that maybe the inverter is about to give out. I am deceived, i thought that i would at least get 5 years out of good service. There's no dead pixel on either of them. I would like to know how long are those screen guaranteed for and where to get it fixed to see if it's worth it.

Thanks

1 year warranty on parts, unfortunately the capacitors on these boards go bad and they can be replaced fairly easy if you can solder.
given your issues I think that there are some bad caps (blown) and they could be replaced very cheaply say under 100 usd + shipping for both if I do it, or for less than 30 usd if you do it.
let me know what you want to do

I am unable to turn the screen off and the Menu button, actually, none of the buttons on the screen works. It constantly shows the Volume in the centre of the screen and I cannot remove it. Please help! ...

If none of the button are working then it could mean that one of the buttons is stuck or there is an issue with the board on the monitor itself.

Unplug the monitor from power and the computer. Make sure none of the buttons are stuck down, plug only power back in to the monitor and see what it shows. Plug it back into the computer and check to see if the problem returns

Problem with syncmaster 204bw

Hi there.
unfortunately this is not a driver issue. if possible, test this screen on a different PC/Laptop.
it sounds like a problem with the screen itself - meaning you will have to take it to a service centre, or if its under warrantee - take it to the shop you baught it from.
*** NB note: samsun screens normally carry a guarantee of AT LEAST 3 years, and not only 1 Year.

Acer AL1715 Monitor - screen distortion, discoloration, several times each day

Certain versions of the Acer AL1715 monitor had a problem with the VGA socket. Specifically, the plastic case around the socket was not wide enough. The plastic lip interfered with the plug and so the plug does not seat properly. This causes all sorts of intermittent problems. The version of the AL1715 with the problem with had the UPC code of 0 99802 19889 3. I fixed several of these monitors by shaving off the excess plastic with a Dremel Mototool. A hand file would probably work as well. You have to remove the plastic back to get the clearance to do the job.

Sounds like a backlight problem.. due to the inverter shutting down due to a fault.

No menu

One of the buttons on the front of your monitor is probably stuck.
(Only one of the buttons work at a time on most monitors)

I cannot recommend taking it apart your self (have a tech do it)
But take off the front, check the buttons after you take off the front, and if it still occurs unplug the buttons from the monitor.
If it stops (which it should) replace or fix the controls)
If it doesn't, call an exorcist (just joking) or buy a new monitor.
