The problem is the joint has come loose from the inner housing and I can not get a slide hammer on it. This is the driver side. Went to remove the passenger side so I could get a punch and try to knock it out but it also came apart and I cannot get it out know. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. E-Mail address is [email protected] Need info really bad. Thanks.

The joint is held in with a spring clip. Try a brass punch and a hammer. Hit it on the metal part of the joint, forcing it away from the transmission.Be careful not to hit it too hard, or slip off and hit the boot.Spray the shaft into the trans with WD40 or an equivalent.Good Luck.

I cannot get the cv joint out. how is the inner joint disassembled. I pulled on the joint and the joint extended and now will not go back in. I am assuming I can disconnect the inner join so I can...

Ok to get the inner joint out you need to stick a pry bar in between the transmission and the inner cv joint. When you pulled the joint to remove the axle the bearing in the joint came out of position. You can put it back by pushing it into place.

How to replace cv axels in 1986 pontiac grand am 3.0 litre

much easier to do this on a lift. You have to break the lower ball joint loose (and in some cars the tie rod end too), remove the axel nut, pry the a-frame down with a big pry bar between the aframe and car frame or inner fender skirt. While one person prys a-frame, the other person pulls the hub away from the car to clear the lower ball joint. Pull the axle out of the hub first, then straight out of the tranny. Use a drip pan under the tranny in case it leaks a little. Push the new axle straight into the tranny until it clicks in. put the other end into the hub and have someone pry the a-frame down again while you get the hub back into the ball joint. button her back up...

Trying to get the bearing off of the cv axle 1994 camry

I think you mean cv joint. If so, a new axle cost $59. You are doing alot of extra work and the joints could be damaged. The outer joint comes off, but it takes a large hammer. The inner joint usually has an inboard ring clip that you pop out with a screwdriver.
