Built in dishwashers use very hot water for the wash cycle and have a heating element that can be selected for the dry cycle.. All dishwashers have some insulation wrap around the housing ( some more than others) and the fact that your counter gets warm is of no consequence.. In other words, I wouldn't be concerned over it..

Steam is pouring out of the top right hand side of the dishwasher. It is ruining the underside of the countertop.

Hello,

Its completly normal for the dishwasher to steam during the cycle. Some manufactures make a steam guard which is a piece of stainless steel and mounts to the underside of the countertop where the dishwasher is installed to prevent the steam from ruining the countertop. If ya can find a piece of stainless steel to mount there it will deflect the steam.is needs to be stainless since regular steel isn't stainless and would rust over time. Perhaps plexiglass would work too.

We have a Bosch SHE45M06UC/50 in an island with a granite countertop. It is not attached and so moves. How do we attach it to the granite countertop? Or how do we attach it????

You glue on a wood strip, to the underside of the counter, then screw into that. Use construction adhesive. The wood strip needs to stick down no further than the counter edge treatment, so you normally cannot see this wood strip.

Water not draining

The first thing I would check is the air gap. That is a silver or chrome thing on your countertop above the dishwasher. You can normally pull it off or twist it off. Look fore a plug. I have seen even a piece of popcon plugging it. Next check your drain line. If it goes into your garbage disposal make sure it is clear. Too many people do not run the hot water near there dishwasher before it is hot and then start the dishwasher. Todays dishwashers use very little water per EPA but need hot water to do the job.
Hope this helps

On model du81qdwgq1 is hot or cold connection

You are supposed to connect the dishwasher to the HOT water side. Although most dishwashers have a heating element to heat the water, they are normally installed this way to reduce the amount of time the heating element is on. This not only extends the life of the heating element, but also reduces the amount of electricity required to heat the water.

Another helpful hint: Before you run the dishwasher, run the hot water tap until the water runs hot. This will fill the dishwasher with water that is already hot instead of the cold water that normally sits in the line after the hot water has been shut off for a while. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My new Kenmore Elite panel ready dishwasher leaves wet

You need only enough space so the door does not rub when opened. If the unit is too far back under the cabinet the countertop (if wood) can be damaged by the exhausting moisture. The dry feature on the newer models is just as you describe. The moisture from the hotter dishes evaporates and is condensed on the cooler walls and door of the wash tub. Dry dishes wet tub is normal.

Installing a under the counter dishwasher

The dishwasher doesn't have to be between cabinets, but it does have to be enclosed on both sides, and it can't support the countertop. You can put an end panel there, which is just a finished panel with trim on the front to match the cabinets. Make sure it is straight and securely attachedd to both the floor and the countertop. Also make sure that you can route the water and drain lines out the other side.

My Bosch 800 series won't start when I close the door, instead it flashes the InfoLight on for half a second and then powers off. The unit is a SHXN8U55UC/07. Everything seems normal, I open the door, press the power button and the display lights saying 2:09 and the light under Auto is on. The Auto light, InfoLight, and display are flashing once a second. The InfoLight is the red light that shines on the floor while it is running. I press the start button for a second until it beeps, then close the door. The InfoLight will light up for half a second and then it turns off. Normally it would turn on and stay on while the cycle runs. When I open the door, all lights and display are off. If I press the power button, it will come back on. I called Bosch technical support and they had me go through a reset cycle. This involved, IIRC, holding the power button for 3 seconds, then closing it and waiting a minute. When this didn't solve the problem, they said I needed a repair visit. Two points of interest: I did the troubleshooting with Bosch at 10pm, then gave up and went to bed. Around 6pm the following evening I opened the washer up and the display was on and showed clean. The dishwasher had obviously run, and was still a little warm like it had finished running in the last couple hours but not hot. I have been unable to replicate this, though I've only waited ~12 hours so far. This was working fine for 6-9 months, then we had a contractor in who pulled out the flooring and cabinets. They left the dishwasher powered on and connected to the power supply, but not water or drain. Since re-installing the dishwasher, it has not worked.
