Question about Acer TravelMate 2300 Notebook

1 Answer

Acer TravelMate 4020

The machine works fine. No problems. The battery is charged. If I unplug the 120v power, the battery runs fine for over an hour. BUT if I turn it off,and then try to turn it back on ..... nothing .... no lights no bothing ... it acts very dead. Sometimes by hitting the power button a few times - it will come back alive. What seems to work, and I dont know why, is to take the battery out for a few minutes, then plug the battery back in while holding the power button down!

Help me if you can ! I really like this little machine.

You are looking at having to replace the motherboard here, as the charging circuit appears to not be working. I assume the computer works as long as it's plugged in, so the DC-in jack must be OK

Extensa 5620z won't boot unless I remove battery and unplug for several minutes. It will most often boot and run fine after that. What can I do?

Seems to be a defective battery. Try replacing the battery with a new one, or test your battery on another laptop which is working fine.

Acer Travelmate 4060. Dead. Flashes power/battery led once when I hit the power button then nothing

Try removing the battery and plugging the machine in as if you were going to charge it, then try starting it up.

If it doesn't start up, check the connections on the adapter. If everything looks fine then theres a possibility that you have a broken adapter.

Travelmate only powers up with battery inserted. But AC still charges battery. Orange light goes on and of

Sorry to tell you this but you may have a problem with the charging system. That will require you to return it to Acer or an Acer service center. You can also try this. I got this from Acers' travelmate support website:

If the notebook does not power on:

Make sure the ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.

If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to complete a ‘power reset' of the notebook.
  1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
  2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
  3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
  4. Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please note that a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it is plugged in).
  5. Normally power on the notebook.
  6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
  7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.
You can aslo google your specific model of Travelmate to see if others are having this issue.

Bluetooth problem

It doesn't detect the bluetooth device. But what I can't understand is why does the 4020 have the front button if there's no device.

Thanks again...

ACER TRAVELMATE 2430¬

What happens if you let your system charge up for a while using the adapter? When you power it on does your mouse work?
Or do you always leave it plugged in cause you killed the cells and dont want to buy a new battery?
If it is option 3 I will tell you on more then 1 occasion systems run horribly on a battery that has been dead for so long. Batteries can cause damage to the motherboard that way as well. Try and unplug the battery and see if that stops the problem

My Acer travelmate only works from battery not mains

Most likely the power plug has come loose off the motherboard. Unless you are extremely handy with a soldering and desoldering iron, I recommend taking it to a professional to do it because one wrong move can destroy the whole motherboard.
