Battery Charge - First Use

All of the documentation says to charge your new battery "at least 4 hours" before using - but on our first unit yesterday, the LED went green after about 2 hours, indicating a full charge. Woulds the green LED not indicate it was OK to fire it up for the first time?? I'd like to be sure as we charge the second one.

Re: Battery Charge - First Use

Full charges for 8 hours as per the instructions are recommended as they condition the battery over the first handful of charges. This maximizes the battery's useful capacity and performance. After the first handful of charges, you can turn it loose to charging as needed.

Re: Battery Charge - First Use

From my experience with battery charging, most high tech electronic devices will charge their batteries at a higher current rate initially, until they reach about 80% charge. From then on, they switch to "trickle charge" to complete the remainder 20% or so. This is the only way to completely fully charge rechargeable batteries in the shortest time without prematurely shortening their lives . My educated guess is that your LED may have turned green in 2 hours, but the system is still trickle charging the batteries and you're still about 20% short of a fully charged battery.

Re: Battery Charge - First Use

My experience was similar to yours. The LED turned green after about only 2 hours. Because I didn't want to stay up until midnight to start playing with my Axim, I took it out of the cradle after the 2 hours and everything was fine. Besides, having downloaded and read the user's guide 2 days before receving my Axim, I knew that a green LED meant it was ready to go. 3 days later, everything is still fine and seems normal. A year ago, I received a Palm with similar initial charging requirements, and it also didn't take as long as the directions said it would.

The USB connected screen is frozen on my reader and I don't know how to fix it.

The Reader may not turn on, or it may appear to be frozen if the unit needs to be reset, the battery is completely discharged or moisture condensation has occurred. Please perform the below mentioned steps and check whether it helps. Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the Reader status after completing each step.
1. Connect the Reader to a USB connection or optional AC adapter. Allow approximately 5 min for it to turn on. If it does not turn on automatically, try to turn it on again. If it still does not turn on, continue with the rest of this procedure. 2. Perform a soft reset. Just press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object 3. After the RESET button has been pressed, slide the POWER switch to activate the Reader again. If the Indicator light next to the power button on the Reader is yellow , the unit is attempting to start up. If this is the case, allow it a few moments to complete startup. 4. If startup did not complete, connect the Reader to the computer or optional AC adapter and perform a soft reset again. 5. Disconnect the Reader from the computer (if applicable) and then slide the POWER switch to activate the Reader. Check if the Indicator light next to the power switch on the Reader is yellow (indicating it is turning on) and if the unit is responding. 6. If the unit is not responding but Starting up... is displayed on the screen, attempt a hard reset. 7. If the unit is still frozen, connect it again to the computer or optional AC adapter and while connected, check if the Indicator light next to the power switch on the reader is red . If this light is red , allow the Reader to charge for one hour so there is sufficient charge for troubleshooting.
* If your computer goes into hibernation or sleep mode, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off. * It is recommended to charge the Reader while you are using the computer or to adjust your sleep/hibernation settings of your computer to avoid any interruption in the charging process. You also can use the optional AC Adapter model ACS-5220E. 8. Once the Reader has sufficient charge, perform these troubleshooting steps again. 9. Under certain circumstances, moisture condensation can occur. Moisture condensation can be caused by moving the Reader between temperature extremes or if the Reader has come in direct contact with moisture. If you suspect moisture as the cause, allow the Reader to sit for a few hours before attempting to turn it back on.
General notes regarding the battery status: * You can verify the charge status by disconnecting the Reader from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged. * It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.
If the issue still persists, service of the Reader is required. Please follow the below link to get it repaired: http://eservice.sony.com

My Tungsten E2 is not charging. It has been with me for almost 4 years now. What seems to be the problem? This is not the first time though I encountered the same problem. 3 years ago I encountered the...

I had symptoms with my Tungsten E2 where the charging icon would show up when the charger was connected, however, it didn't seem to charge, because when it was removed from the charger hours later, it would still show the same percentage of charge (as read by touching the battery icon while in the favorites screen).
Tried resetting the unit, reconnecting multiple times, different charge cables, and it was always the same.
I thought it might be time for a new battery, so to check it out, I got my T-5 Torx driver, removed the four case screws, and carefully pried open the case from the top (the bottom has hooks that have to be disengaged by sliding the case half downwards after they're separated from the top)
Measured the battery and it seemed to be okay, and after unplugging the battery connector and reconnecting it, it worked normally again. Charged quickly back up to 100%, and the battery is fine.
It looks like something may get out of sync with the battery charge circuit, and by simply unplugging the battery to allow it to reset, it restored operation, no replacement battery needed.

Tungsten 2E battery will not fully charge.

Your E2 is showing a battery that is just about dead. Luckily you can replace it

It worked fine one minute and about 10 minutes later it would not turn on at all. Batteries not the problem as plugging it into the power cord or the computer hookup does nothing.

Its because ur internal memory battery is dead or no charge so please keep the unit charge in all possible ways for about 2 hours. Some palm tops have base stand and a seperate place on the base stand to charge the normal battery. So make sure u leave the unit for charge for a longer period of time say 5 hours.

Thankyou

LG Viewty battery discharges quickly .....

Charging duration does not connect to battery lasting duration in any way.Optimal charging time is 3 to 4 hours.your battery will drain soon if you keep your touchscreen pressed continuously in your jeans pocket.Keep bluetooth switched off. Reduce the brightness of your mobile display. Play music threw headphone rather than using loudspeakers.

Sudden Battery drainage - from full charge within 14 hours

turn off bluetooth if its on because bluetooth wastes battery life on any phone.

go to Tools > Settings > Personal > Display > and change the light settings. if its on the highest light setting then that would be a major factor on why your battery is draining quickly.

hold the menu button and check if any applications are still open, close any that you don't need open.

Battery

This IPAQ will not support 3rd party battery manufacturers. Ensure you are using an original HP battery. You usually can use the battery one time--but when the charge runs out, so does your luck.

Most of the time you will get an on-screen warning that the battery will not be able to charge when you use a 3rd party battery. If you are using an original, you might need a new battery--they do wear out after time--too-old batteries no longer hold a charge.

E115 Won't Hold Battery Charge

You might hook your charger up to your battery and check the voltage that you are getting when it is fully charged. It may be that the charger is bad. Your voltage when fully charged with the battery on it should be a little over the rated voltage of the battery. Just a thought. Be sure you are using the correct poweradapter/charger also.
