Question about Acer Aspire 3050-1733 Notebook
I have ran into a forum previously that allowed me to delete somethings that I am not sure of that inturn allowed my CDROM to work again. After a while it stopped recognizing it so I did it again, and now it stop once more months later (now) and I lost the instructions that I received from that individual, any answers? Thank you for your time.
I am assuming your using XP with SP2 already installed.....
Try to uni-install the device thru your device manager.
Go to START,
Then right click over MY COMPUTER
Select your device from the list (once list is completely done)CD Rom
Right click REMOVE
Shut Down and Restart to save your settings,
When the computer restarts it will self install the device by auto recognising the device is present on start up,
There will be 3 icon ballons appear when its going the recognise/install process,
You must wait for the last balloon to tell you the device has been installed and ready for use,
1.The processor is fast and with good ram (2 Slots - Max 2GB) would love to do the work straight away but the more commands you give it the more likely the information going to the wrong places.
2. Too many programs starting at the wrong times or the same times and in the wrong order seem to create conflicts and this process seems to apply the brakes for lots of machines so let the motors warm up before you drive it hard, lol
This has worked for XP and Vista so I beleive it should fix your problems.
The operating systems come preloaded with their own drivers and some smart features to quickly sort out any issues , The drivers are also on the disk that the computer came with or on a back up on your hard drive,(maybe)or download able from the www.acer.com/downloads
After the its installed the device and everythings working reboot the machine again to save your settings.
My Mother has the same model and I have those disks here somewhere after resetting her machine for her and can check them out if you not able to sort out your mission.
Please let me know if you need further help,
Thanks and good luck.

This has been a common windows issue. I'm sure that this will solve your problem. You can go to this link, http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd, download the registry file and run it. After that, just restart your computer and it should be good to go.
If you're not sure and is worried about security since this is messing with the registry, you can just click on this microsoft link where it explains and gives you detailed instructions on how to manually edit the registry and fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461.
This is typically the same thing, the first one is just a shortcut on how to do it. Just a reminder, EDIT THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
