Make sure you have not disengaged the needle bar, such as when winding a bobbin. The manual says that when a bobbin is set for winding and the bobbin winder shaft is moved to the right, the needlebar is disengaged. If that appears to be okay on your machine, perhaps something in that mechanism is broken or misaligned preventing the needlebar from operating.
Usually you simply grasp the wheel and turn it. Most machines use the wheel to thread bobbins, and typically you pull the wheel out, directly outward away from the machine, slightly, to disengage the gears so the bobbin will wind without the needle going up/down. If it's pulled out, it will just spin when you try to turn it and the needle won't move.
If that's what's happening try pushing the wheel in, toward the machine. You can't push too hard, really, it will either pop in or not. If not, and if it won't move, it may be seized, which means one more of the gears inside have stuck together from overheating of lack of oil. If so, it's going to need a repair man.
I assume you are trying to wind the bobbin. Sounds like the lever is not disengaging the needle head. If you \'ve had the machine a while, you may have the part under the bobbin winding area clogged up with thread lint and gunk. Get a penlight and try to see in the slit that the bobbin holder pokes through. You may need to take the cover off. If you do, then unplug the machine, remove the cover, and move the bobbin winder on and off and watch the other levers attached to it.
Of course I have to guess here--not seeing the machine, but it appears that your motor is working fine. That would leave two possibilities, I think. The first is a defective foot pedal. The second is, when you push the bobbin winder, it engages a clutch that diverts power from the needle shaft to the winder. It is possible that the clutch is stuck. To find out, disengage the bobbin winder and press the foot pedal, and see if the bobbin winder spindle is still spinning.
Hi - if I understand your questions you're trying to wind a bobbin on the top, and haven't got as far as sewing yet. To do this you usually have to put the bobbin on the top spool for it, and move that into position so that it turns. To disengage the needle so it doesn't go up and down whilst you wind the bobbin up, on most machines you have part of the main drive wheel (on the far right) which turns against the rest of it, disengaging the part of the drive which powers the needle going up and down. Or at least that's how it works on most machines.
It sounds like your machine is set to wind the bobbin right now, so the drive is disengaged. That would explain why the bobbin winder pin is the only part moving. Check your manual for how to reset the machine when you are finished winding the bobbin.
Most machines have a way to disengage the drive for the needle while filling the bobbin. Then once the bobbin is filled, you re-engage the drive. Some machines have a separate, smaller hand-wheel that turns and clicks into place. Some machines automatically reengage the drive once the bobbin pin snaps into place away from the drive belt.
Usually when you pull the clutch knob out it disengages the sewing machine needle shaft. At least, that is how my 2 Kenmore's work. Depending what brand and model of sewing machine it is, you can usually disengage the needle bar with the knob inside the handwheel by turning it towards you. If you've done that and the needle bar still moves, it needs oil and should be serviced by a technician.
Clutch is disengaged only for winding thread onto the bobbin.
When done, re-engage (tighten) clutch and with bobbin in bobbin case, hold needle thread, rotate handwheel until needle is top centre of it's motion then pull threads thru allowing approx 100mm (4") slack .....you are ready to sew.
If this isn't what you were asking, then I'm not sure why you have disengaged the clutch, so more detail please.
