  • Well, if it broke off right flush with the pack then you would have to split the pack and re-soldier the wires on. This can be a big pain. No easy way but to carefully split it open. The original adapters sort of split in half.
  • There is a little flex part on the end of the wire before the actual adapter. If it broke off there then you can carefully splice off the little end piece lengthwise making sure not to cut the wire itself.
  • When that is removed then you can splice the two wires together. I recommend soldiering them together and insulating with shrink tube. Electric tape will work temporarily (see photo)

How to hook sega genesis up to a flat screen tv

You need to hook up the cable coming in from the outside to one end of the Sega RF cable and hook the male end of the RF connector from the Sega into the cable input on the TV.On the back of the game console there is a channel selector switch. It is either CH3 or CH4 which is what your TV needs to be on when you turn on the console. If one looks bad try switching the channel selector on Sega and on the TV.
Good luck and game on!

Sega turn on but just get squiggly lines help!

I've seen Genesis consoles that are just plain bad, rusted inside and screwed up, no fixing that. I hope that isn't the case but it sounds similar to what happened to me, and mine was garbage.

make sure its on the right channel (3 or 4 depending on the RF switch). also wiggle the A/V cable to see if its a loose port. Try holding the cartridge back or forth when powering it on in case the pins that touch the cart inside the console are loose and just aren't making contact (if this is the case there are guides on how to open up the Gen and make them stick out more, fixing it)

Best of luck!

Sega Genesis Video Problem

Maybe you are supposed to be on Channel 4. There should be a 3-4 switch on your RF adapter. Try wiggling the video connection in the back of your genesis and see if that fixes anything, it might be a lose port, in which case you have to wrap the cable underneath the genesis or something heavy to keep it at a working angle (if you find a working angle).

It is also possible your RF cable is bad. They aren't that much on ebay, but make sure you buy one for your model (there are 2 models of genesis and they use different RF cables)

I hope this helps somewhat.

Bad picture with Sega Genesis model 1

Taking your problem in a whole new direction, why don't you try purchasing an 8 or 9-pin (depending on the type of Genesis you have) DIN RCA cable. This will improve picture and sound, and you won't have to worry about malfunctioning RF converters. Your problem sounds like the RF adapters are inadequate.

No sound on my sega genesis i need help on how to fix it

If you are using the 8 or 9 pin RCA DIN cable, make sure that one of the pins is not bent or missing. If you are using the RF adapter, make sure that the channel selection switch is completely on either channel 3 or 4.
