Question about Sierra Wireless Computers & Internet

Sierra Wireless 881U won't connect

I've got a Sierra Wireless 881U that I'm using with a HP Pavillion DV6000.  I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium.  I've been using the cell modem for about two months.  Then all of a sudden it won't connect to the internet.  Sometimes it shows a local connection.  At other times it shows that it is connected,, but the browser can't open a page.  When I click repair for the connection, it says the IP address is wrong.  I've gone through three tiers of tech support with AT&T.  They don't have a clue and say the problem is most likely with my computer.  Drivers and firmware are up to date.  Any suggestions.  Thatks.

No, I didn't try that.  I replaced the SIM card and that didn't help.  I then swapped my 881U for a friend's  His worked perfectly on my computer, but mine wouldn't work on his computer. This indicated a hardware problem in the modem itself.   AT&T replaced my unit and the new one works flawlessly.  Thank you for your suggestion!

Have you tried to run a Winsock reset in Vista to flush winsock catalogs pertaining to the IP addresses?

Did you format the drive or just repair it"??

Access BIOS and have a look in case that key stroke is disabled in there.

Sounds like the CD has overwritten that part of the HP registry....they have their own.

Sounds like you have a bad malware infection to me.....go to the link below and download and install. When it installs, allow it to update and run. Perform a quick scan only and when it finishes, click on show results...the infections found will be in red, click on remove selected and Malwarebytes will delete the infections, reboot the laptop and try again.

HP Pavilion dv6000 OS(s)

The product key on the label on the bottom of the laptop will only work for the version of Windows that was installed on that laptop.
You can purchase an upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate and to use in conjunction with the existing Vista Home Premium.
