Minerals in the water clog up the steam outlet tube on these units. You have to open the unit and look for the outlet from the steam generator and try to unclog with a wire.

It sounds like you may have mineral buildup in the system. You can try filling the water tank 2/3 with water and then filling it with white vinegar. Steam until the tank is empty. This should clean the buildup out of the machine. By the way, Rather than just running the vinegar/water out, this solution is good for bathrooms, kitchens, sinks, showers, and windows. Good luck!
