My Toshiba Satellite A30-203 has a black screen\ Display problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite A30-203 and the screen fades almost to black, like it is in the hibernate mode - you can barely read what is on the screen. When you tap the pin that sticks up above the keyboard on the right side (that pushes down when you close the lid) the screen will usually come back to full brightness - usually for a second or two - sometimes for a couple of hours.

I changed the software settings to "never" for the hibernate mode, for all occasions, including when the lid is closed, thinking the pin above the keyboard was the problem, but that didn't change anything.

Has anyone else had this problem. or does anyone have any idea of what is broken or defective.

Thanks in advance:)

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A30 and the desk top screen never keeps it picture. For everytime I change the desktop picture, the entire screen turnes black. Besides that, it is working fine.

My screen looks like a photo negative..I have a Toshiba Satellite.

Right click on your Desktop, click on Properties, then go to the Settings tab and set the color to 32 bit True Color.

It sounds to me like your display settings are set to monochrome/black and white.

Best Regards,

My Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4830's screen will flicker black randomly with no aggrevating and occasionally will fade to white or black completly.

I recommend you to reinstall the display drivers of your laptop as the issue may occur due to the corrupted display drivers.

Uninstall the display drivers from Device Manager.
Expand Display devices.
Right click on the display device and select Uninstall.

On restarting the laptop, windows will detect the device and reinstall the display drivers.

You can even install the display drivers from your notebook support website:

Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.

Screen black out?

Most likely the LCD inverter. The inverter supplies the voltage to the ccfl lamps to light the display. These inverters run about $20 on e-bay.

On my toshiba M105 the problem is the Tab welds at the top of the lcd itself. 1/3 of the screen is not usable but an external screen is perfect.
