you may have a bad ROM. If you have a multiple target unit, switch the source from the ROM to one of writers and try copying that way, if it copies then it confirms that the ROM is defective.
If you have a Single target unit, check your master disc under disc info, depending on which controller you have it should be under utility or disc info. Once in disc info it should tell you the size of your master disc, for DVD-R it should be under 4488MB, for DVD+R it should be under 4482MB. Then double check the master in the PC just to confirm.
I would try simply copying one of the already completed discs using a stable and well known burning program like Nero.
Programs like Pinnacle can be very temperamental when exporting their projects to disc.
I assume it means just what it says. The Disc you are trying to copy is faulty?
Clarify what you are trying to copy. If it is copy protected, A duplicator wont copy it. Or the disc was made in a format incompatible with the master drive you are using. Ive had drives read some discs and another drive that cant read the same disc. Some brands of discs work better on certain drives. Try to use top quality reccomended discs such as Verbatim.
These are the possibilities: 1. You are trying to copy a disc which is copy protected and hence it may not show the actual size of disc. Please don't do piracy. I personally recommend it(although most home users buy DVD writer for pirating disc for themselves). 2. The black DVD which you are using is not compatible to your DVD writer make sure your DVD writer is compatible with the disc. There are different technologies used for blank DVDs e.g. DVD+R, DVD-R etc. 3. You are using a bad media, which normally happens in case of low cost local Black DVD, available at the cost of dust. 4. IF you have a lens cleaner disc, try also that. It may help. Please rate me appropriately if you are satisfied with my answer,in case, if you want any clarification please get back to me.
Your source dvd is most probably a 8.5Gb disc. You will need a blank 8.5Gb disc to copy to.Check out the size of the file on the source disc or the capacity of the source disc. If it is greater than 4.7 Gb.If you are using a 4.7gb to copy to,it will bring up an Overflow message.
You need to read page 8 of the JVC CU-VD20 DVD Burner instruction manual:
Recommended DVD-R Vendor - JVC, TDK, Verbatim, SONY
Writing Speed for DVD-R is 8X maximum, this is the real issue as I first bought 16X TDKs and they did not work, so now I need to buy 8X.
That's a bummer as most stores only supply 16X now.
