Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

We purchased an upright freezer on Friday. It has not stopped running since. The store manager told me it was supposed to do that. They also said they do not have a booklet for it and that it was in good working condition. I know it is a used model and it is pretty banged up, but I needed something and the price was right. Can you help us? The model no.is: FUM14DRARWH and the serial no. is: ZG17586. We did not receive a booklet with it. The booklet we got is not for the freezer we purchased, it is for a chest type freezer. Would you have a booklet that we can have for this unit.

Yes this unit will run a lot of the time it has no defrost so you will need to defrost every 6 /12 months do not use knifes or scraper... just unplug and open door untill all frost is gone... hope it helps

The top section, fridge, is freezing up, we only had it 3 days

Read somewhere that refrigerators are not supposed to be transported on their sides - that they are supposed to be moved in an upright position and that if you have transported it like that you are supposed to let it stand upright for about 8 hours before using it.

Freezer fan will not stop running, freezer is freezing and refrigerator is cold

The fan is supposed to stop when your freezer goes through it's defrost cycle. Find the defrost timer, manually turn it "slowly" until you hear' feel a click. The fan should stop. If it does, then you know you have a bad timer. Easy fix, <$20 part.

I have a new fridge but it won't cool in the bottom section. There is stiroform in back of freezer. Was it supposed to be removed? WW

Good day,
You should really call the store where you purchased it, but. If there is a block of styrofoam inside the freezer compartment, it should definitely be removed. It may be blocking some of the air vents.

You can buy whatever you want from Sears Parts Center either online, or at a service center. If your fridge came with an icemaker installed then you are supposed to have an ice bucket in the fridge from the factory.

Freezer frost buildup; fan constantly running; water filter

Just had mine repaired. Tech told me that the tempearature settings on the display panel are not EXACT science. The fridge is cooled by blowing air from the freezer to the fridge and when the sensor in fridge reached approx desired temperature, the damper is closed.

The noise you hear periodically (water dripping) is the heating rod melting the defroster (hence frost freeze), which unfortunately sometimes spills into the blower motor to fridge, causing frozen motor, causing the infamous ER FF error code and fridge failure.

I reluctantly had LG to do the energy saver fix (recall) and it replace everything that the internet users are complaining about.

Will it damage old upright freezer to unplug it when not in use--can't afford new one even though it would save money in the long run.

It will not hurt it at all. Clean it out real well including the all around the door seal. Be sure to prop the door open enough to allow air circulation so that mold and mildew does not begin to grow.

If you have children or children have access to the freezer, BEWARE!!! children have been known to play or hide inside these things. THIMK! SUFFACATION! Danger!Danger!

GE PROFILE FREEZER FAN STAYS OFF TOO LONG..ITEMS DEFROSTING

The fan stops during the whole defrost cycle, there is a bi metal control that determines the length of time the heater stays on. This could be the problem, if the heater stays on for the time that is allowed by the defrost timer it will get too warm in the freezer. the bi metal is located on the evaporator.
