Shuttle XPC - fan on the back does not stop

Hello, my son gave his Shuttle XPC to me to use. Problem with this is, when I turn the back switch "on" the back fan makes lot of noise. Then when I press the power button on the front, the back fan stop producing the noise.
When I turned my computer off, the back fan start making noise and contniue for hours and days till I turn the back witch off.
Any help is highly appreciated and please when you are helping, remember you are working with a old man with NO computer knowledge.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Shuttle xpc suddenly turns itself off

Could be overheating.
Suggest you check the Processor Fan is working, usually you can hear it.
If it stays on longer when starting from cold then that could indicate fan trouble.
Most PCs have onboard sensors which can be monitored by programs like Speedfan see http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php then click on SpeedFan 4.39
Good Luck

Can you replace a XPC Shuttle power supply with iStarUSA CP01040?

Hi,
I did exactly the same for a build I did for someone, but I used the PSU that Shuttle suggested which of course is one of their own, but those boxes are so cramped that a centimeter out will ruin your day.
Depending on which model XPC you have I'd advise you to get a Shuttle SilentX 450W. If you click here you can see which models it fits and all of the techs and specs you need.
Best price I could find it for in the UK is here but also found one in Canada for just over £70. You can see that one by clicking here.

Shuttle XPC XB51G Barebones - no power

I think you will find your PSU has gone faulty, they are very cheap these days, I would guess at the PSU and replace it "On Spec" with a similar one. Remove the four PSU screws around by the Fan at back. Unplug it from The motherboard noting connections, can only go one way thogh. Take the PSU to ya local repair shop and get another... put new one in connect up to MB and power up. If ya lucky.. ya solved ya problem. Or better still see if you can test it with another one B4 buying another.
