Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven

1 Answer

GE Spacemaker XL1800 bottom bulbs

Both of the bulbs located under the above unit (to provide light over the stove) burned out and I put them on the counter to match up with a replacement. They got thrown out by accident. The place where you insert them is at the front edge of the opening under the unit, and it's impossible to even see how wide apart the prongs should be. I tried a bulb from another halogen appliance, it didn't fit. Do you have any idea what the number of the bulbs would be?

I'm sorry, but the kind of bulb I need is tiny with two prongs that plug in. I think I've found a replacement number now, I'll have to buy one and see if the info is correct. Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure I did, it was right from the GE website and I used the model number of the microwave.

Yes, I have a pair of cotton gloves on the shelf just for that purpose! Thanks again!

Hope you found the right one.. if they are quartz/halogen ..remember to wear gloves so as not to leave skin oil on the quartz which will cause premature bulb failure...

The inside light bulb that works when the door opens and food is cooking is burned out, I have the new bulb but don't know where to replace it.

Brand and model would help but I'll guess at this. If micro is a wall hung unit over the range, you usually need to remove the top grill assembly above the door. Then look inside directly above the area where the bulb is located. You should see a metal cover with usually 1 screw in it to remove. Once screw is out that metal plate usually pulls forward and upward to reveal the bulb and socket. Replace bulb and reverse procedure to assemble.
If the micro is a counter top model---the complete outer case usually needs removed if you don't see a small access door by the bulb. Remove all screws around back edge and any screws in the side panels---then lift back edge and pull outer case rearward to remove.

How do i change the bulb on ag821azh microwave x2

follow this steps and use the VOM for fix it. God bless you

Light Bulb

If the microwave light bulb is not working it is usually located behind the upper grille and behind an access panel, and above the lower panel. On counter top units you will need to remove the outer cover to get to the bulb. If that doesn't solve the problem check the on-off switch, and control board

Main Control Board

If the microwave light bulb is not working check the light bulbs, sockets and wiring. If they are good the main control board might be defective.

Light Bulb Socket

If the microwave light bulb is not working and a new light bulb doesn't solve the problem, the light bulb socket might be burned out and need to be replaced.

Light bulb above stove under microwave hood

According to the GE manual it is a 120 v 20 watt halogen bulb, the GE product number is WB36X10213. That is the cooktop light/nightlight that would be on the stove hood. HTH!

Light won't go on; Model MMV1153WB-O

You can download owner's manuals and installation instructions for several brands (including Amana, Frigidaire, Jenn-Air, Kitchenaid, Litton, Maytag, Roper, Tappan, Thermador and Whirlpool) here.

Enter it as MMV1153WB0 (no dash, zero on the end, not "oh")

Or just get it here, to be more exact.
On page 4, it says:

"Installing/Replacing Filters and Light Bulbs
■ Grease filter: Grease filter is on the underside of microwave
oven. Clean monthly. Slide the filter away from the tab area,
and drop out the filter. To reinstall, place end of the filter into
the opening opposite the tab area, swing up the other end,
and slide it toward the tab area.
■ Charcoal filter: The charcoal filter is behind the vent grille at the
top front of the microwave oven. The charcoal filter cannot be
cleaned, and should be replaced about every 6 months.
Remove 2 screws on the vent grille, tilt the grille forward, lift it
out, and remove filter. To reinstall, place the filter into its slotted
area – wire mesh side up, replace vent grille, and secure with
screws.
■ Cooktop light(s): The cooktop light bulb(s) is(are) located on
the underside of the microwave oven, and is(are) replaceable.
Remove bulb cover screw, and open the bulb cover. Replace
bulb, close bulb cover, and secure with screw.
■ Cavity light: The cavity light bulb is located behind the vent
grille at the top front of the microwave oven, under the bulb
cover, and is replaceable. Remove 2 screws on the vent grille,
tilt the grille forward, and lift it out. Open bulb cover and
replace bulb. Close bulb cover, replace vent grille, and secure
with screws."

HINT: Unplug the oven before removing or installing the bulbs, or you may need this service.
