Hello, can you help me with my ribbon problem? Unfortunately when I went to Staples to replace this ribbon I gave them the original and they sold me the wrong tape. When I went to get the old one back, it had been thrown out! The new tape that I ordered does not fit at all. On the box it states: LEXMARK 210 Correctable Ribbon Cassette. It is nothing like the original ribbon. The serial # on my machine is 6705 46 878 (or 676). Thank you in advance.

Re: IBM Selectric III Typewriter Ribbon help
There are two different ribbons for the selectric III one has the ribbon lift guides built into the ribbon the other the guides are part of the typewriter. The first is a General Ribbon T=387 the other is a G.R. T-385.

Unfortunately this sounds like a panel board issue, most sets have a Tcon board that is separate from the panel board however yours is built in, try cleaning the ribbon connectors that go to the panel but I don't think that will help and to replace the panel would cost more than the set is worth, you may be in the market for a new tv unfortunately
Hello there this may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Went to the local hardware and read the labels. The store brand fit and works as good as the original staples. The 1000 has outlasted several of the new fashion staplers. And the local hardware store is an Ace Hardware.
My original answer to your problem disappeared somewhere into
cyberspace (I think that I pressed the wrong button). Anyhow...here is
what happened.to me: I got an answer from another web site, and he said
to take out all the ribbon leads and clean the ends. Unfortunately, you
would need an electron microscope and tweezers to do that. I gave up,
and took it into an agent to get a quote. The first one quoted me
nearly $800, the second less than $200. The second one did the job and
it worked great! I am still having a few teething problems, but it's
not the camera's fault...it's mine. I'll have to read up on the manual,
which I had to download from The Net, as I had lost the original one.
It's 60 pages long! Hope that this has been of some help to you. JOHN.
Hi, I have a Royal Companion Portable from 1940's. I bought new ribbons at mytypewriter.com (select the "Royal Portable" ribbon). It fits. Anyway if it doesn't it's not an expensive mistake, but I researched this and apparently all vintage Royal Portables have the same standard ribbon. Worked out in my case. Good luck!
